Default Payette area safety question
I love the house prices in Payette and the proximity to everything but I'm troubled by the data on registered sex offenders as shown on the main city-data page for the town. I was amazed there could be 43 registered sex offenders-a ratio of 176 to 1 within such a small area. Ontario, Oregon, for example, right across the river has a ratio of 2781 to one, about one fifteenth the concentration. In Payette, some live directly adjacent to a school. Can someone enlighten me as to whether this is a statistical hiccup, a problem in compiling data, or is Payette or Idaho in general some kind of haven for people with this sort of criminal record? We have school age children, so you can imagine the concern. Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I see that Ontario, OR has comparable low housing costs like Payette....you might maybe consider moving there instead. It would be worth it to be safer. You could still visit Idaho to your hearts content. Maybe the difference is the quality of local law enforcement??? I guess sometimes the grass really is greener on the other side of the...uh...river.

I am young and live in payette && have never had a problem with sex offenders there.
