Historically, it was a center for the timber industry. As with other areas reliant on timber, it has taken its hits.
Beautiful scenic place. Decent schools. Very rural. Good fishing/hunting/hiking/skiing nearby: Coeur D' Alene Lake, Silver Mountain Ski Resort, etc...
