Bonners Ferry question
I have been doing a lot of on-line real estate shopping for over a year now...when and if my home sells here in AZ I am heading straight north! (getting closer now!) One of the homes I have admired is in or near Bonner's Ferry but the address says it is on Hwy 1 and I cannot locate a Hwy 1, even using Google Earth. Does anyone know where Hwy 1 is in or near BF?

Hwy 1, actually State Route 1, splits off of U.S. Route 95 in the area of Copeland, north of Bonners Ferry. That junction occurs about 10 miles from the border with Canada. Hwy 95 then leads to the Eastport entry to British Columbia, while Hwy 1 goes northwest to the Porthill entry to the Canadian province.
Hwy 1 roughly follows the Kootenai River, past a number of farms, including hops growing sites mostly owned by Budweiser. Beautiful country!
Hope that helps.

A-ha! Well, why don't the silly maps show this! Thanks very much. The house I spied does look like it borders on forest and farmland, so that makes sense!
Merci Beaucoup!

esselcue, hope your search goes well. there seems to be a bit of correction in home and property prices. just not as much as other areas of the country. we sold our house in indiana, had to take a hit, but its sold. we are making the move this summer. new construction prices have come down a bit also, hoping they drop a bit more. i don't fault someone who wants to make a good living but some of the contractors seem to want a years profit on one job. look to see if the properties are vacant, you may be able to deal a little more. also check with local banks for foreclosures or short sales. good luck.

Thanks! I think my main problem is selling my current place here in Arizona...the search for a home in NID will be nothing compared to this challenge! I was up in NID last October looking around and plan to drive up again this June. I have a very good idea of the area and just have to have faith that when my time to buy arrives I will be lead to the right place! But it is lots of fun using the internet to search!
