Cool coeur d'alene info please

Can anyone tell me if CDA is the place to move children to and still feel young yourself or is there lots of retirees?
We are looking to relocate to either CDA or Billings - but love the water and the trees - need to have space to open a small business in home interiors too.
any help appreciated. We are leaving the phoenix area - that's is now overpriced, retirement heaven, phonies, and work you to death - I do say theu pay good - but hte demand all you have - in this city

Idaho will become famous soon enoughIdaho will become famous soon enough
Lived just east of CD'A many years, and now live in the Tucson area.
I thoroughly understand your Arizona 'fleeing' attitude,
and the retiree focus of many areas you speak of.

There are a relatively high number of retirees and others fleeing the taxes and high cost of living in
California for the North Idaho way of life. This is driving up the property prices all over North Idaho.
CD'A has always been one of the highest priced of the area - because it is 'the' summer resort lake town -
but there are many nice towns in the region.

The CD'A school district once had a rather bad rep, because "once upon a time" it was heavily retirees.
That has changed significantly in the last 20 years, and CD'A has shed that rep for the most part.

It is certainly NOT Phoenix, by any means. I would move back to the CD'A area in a heartbeat, if I had the option.
It is truly home for me. I wish you much good fortune in your decision and your ultimate move,
whether it's to CD'A, Billings, or somewhere entirely different!

Cda isnt bad. it great for your kids but here is a fun fact. Cda school district 271 either under budgeted their teachers this year and lots of TEACHERS got laid off. So keep that in mind. Its a quite little place. Crime I think is VERY low. Housing to me is WAY to high. But comming from your area you should do fine. Your business I think is a great idea, I just dont think people around here can really afford it... Sorry. You have to remember minimun wage is $5.15 and it is a right to work stage to it is hard for a small town business to make ends meet and not get hit by all the quarterly taxes and dues by owning your own business. And when winter hits, nobody buys anything and everybody lays their employees off. To me it is just too hard to make ends meet and be happy unless you have a good chunk of change allready. if you have any other questions just PM me and I will answer them to the best of my ability

Lots of teachers? I've got kids in four schools and haven't had one of them mention a bunch of teachers leaving...I sub for the district and volunteer in the schools and haven't heard this either.

Being raised in cda i would say it isn't the greatest place to raise your kids. Coeur d' alene high school is recognized as a school with numerous amounts of teachers having the "my way or the highway attitude" and not caring about the students needs. A lot of the teachers don't even teach is some cases. students constantly complain about having to teach themselves. Also, many people agree that the teachers give up on struggling students. I have a little brother who has gone to two elementary schools, both having rules that I considered pretty ridiculous. One being having to raise your hand to dump your tray at lunch, and not being able to sit by your friends while eating. Instead you sat in between whoever was in front/back of you in the lunch line. So in my opinion I just don't think the schools aren't all that great. Cops here are also horrible. Out of all the cops i've met, and all the cops i've heard of, I know the law just as well as them, if not better. Also, a grown man can hit a teenager and the case still hasn't been touched by the prosecutor over two months later. Coeur d' Alene does have its benefits, but overall it has some work to do.
