I don't want to see anybody die from it either. Once again I'm sorry.

Morphous01,

You and I are good. You showed a lot of class in your DM.

How about helping us keep track of availability for vaccine where you are, or other H1N1 news in your area? I read on Friday, only 1/3 of the people who are wanting to be vaccinated are able to find vaccine.

This CDC page and videos may help some to understand more about the delay for vaccine.

Also, there are a couple of links about FAQ and the safety of the vaccine. Under the safety section the chance of G-B is discussed. Per the CDC, they anticipate 1-2 people/100,000 vaccinations will develop G-B.

Hopefully, this page will be helpful to some.

Lightbulb H1N1 Will Soon Be Coming to Providers...

From KPVI Channel 6:

"Last H1N1 Mass Vaccination Clinic Approaching; Vaccine Coming to Providers"

"The Southeastern District Health Department says in the coming months you'll be able to walk into your healthcare provider or pharmacy, anywhere that normally administers flu shots, and get the H1N1 vaccine."

The remaining news article and video can be reviewed at:

Last H1N1 Mass Vaccination Clinic Approaching; Vaccine Coming to Providers - KPVI NEWS 6: Pocatello, Idaho Falls-Weather, Sports, News-

It may be for some trying to work with your own doctor/pharmacy will yield vaccines faster, IF your family members meet the criteria. Please review the criteria as some people are ruling themselves out and shouldn't be. If you work with small children, care for a chronically ill person etc., you should be in one of these first waves to get a vaccination, if that is what you are planning to do.

Good luck to all of those who seek to find the vaccine!

Lightbulb "Priority groups expanded for Ada County swine flu clinics"

From KTVB News Channel 7:

" 'It was pretty light today,' " Fotsch said. " ' We had only about 2,200 people come through, which is much less than what we expected. We had 5,300 doses of vaccine here, and getting rid of less than half of that.' "

"The number of people getting vaccinated by Central District Health has declined each week and that even as the priority groups expanded. People 65 and older still don't fit into a priority group despite that being one of the only demographics to show consistent interest.

" 'At some point, perhaps sooner rather than later, we are going to open it up and say ' everybody come in '. We're not quite there yet,' " Fotsch said."

"That would be welcomed by students."

"One of the reasons is the number of students missing school with flu-like symptoms despite the extra health education."

"Still, flu-like symptoms overtook thousands of students across southern Idaho."

" 'Kids have definitely been waiting to get this,' " Fereday said of the vaccine.

brokencrayola, I'm wondering if your children would be able to get their vaccines in Boise? You certainly are dealing with some chronic situations. I know it is a long way from you, but perahps you could make an appt., if you are interested. If I were you, I'd at least call/email them and tell them the diagnoses of those in your house. I think you've tried to be a really good citizen/neighbor and let others get their vaccines first. Your sons need this vaccine sooner rather than later, given what the research shows. There are new articles out yesterday - at least in the journals/online subscriptions. I'm trying to find a public source I can post here.

Others who have been searching for vaccine, if you have the highest risk populations in your household and you are planning to vaccinate your family members, I encourage you to learn if your family members might be able to be vaccinated out of the Boise area. What does it hurt to ask?

Good luck to any and all who may be able to get their vaccines via the Boise area clinic route.

Question "Should obese Utahns get H1N1 vaccine priority?"

From the Salt Lake Tribune:
"Should obese Utahns get H1N1 vaccine priority?
Health » They appear to be harder hit by the novel virus."

"Today, thousands of children, pregnant women and chronically sick adults will get this week's limited supply of H1N1 vaccine through government-sponsored mass vaccination clinics along the Wasatch Front. "

"Should the obese be able to join them? "

"Russell Miller III, medical director of the respiratory intensive care unit at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, said his study controlled for other factors that might explain the higher rate of obese patients in the hospital. Such factors include gender, race, age and some underlying health conditions."

"He won't reveal his findings until the paper is published. But he noted Wednesday that there are more obese who are critically ill in the ICU than he sees with seasonal influenza."

" 'These patients we've seen in the ICU are more [likely to be] obese than I would have expected, based upon the underlying population,' " he said. " 'You want to tease out whether that's just one race or one gender or these other factors that play into it.' "
