Default Idaho unemployment has stabilized

New report tonight...

Idaho unemployment stays at 7%. Not good, but a lot better than many States, and a good indicator that we may be turning the tide. This is not the first increase in 20 months! East Idaho continues to do better than the State average.

Didn't it say Nampa and Meridian were above 10%?

I read it a few days ago and can't remember.

Yes, hate to say it, but the Boise area has been responsible for bringing the numbers up. Hopefully that will turn around. I think Idaho is generally well-positioned to be a leader in the rebound of the economy.

Wow, thats MUCH better than the 13% (More like 15+% if you count illegals) we have in the Inland Empire... That sounds downright GREAT compared to what I keep hearing here.

Rock on Idaho!!

I love BWW is on a distinguished road
Times are tough but businesses keep growing. Buffalo Wild Wings is opening their second restaurant in Nampa Idaho on October 26, 2009 and they are taking applications for all positions.
Other restaurants are opening as well, Smash burger, Five guys, Iggy's On the Border and Chili's have opened in Meridian.
Hopefully more will open in Nampa.

While these types of jobs are certainly warranted and welcome, it's good ole-fashioned industry that's going to pull us out of this economic downturn. If the restaurants are the by-product of an advancing technology or industry boon in the greater Boise area, then great! However, just opening restaurants just to bring in commerce usually doesn't do so well in the short and long term.
