A Mexican young man shot a local in the head because of a night club argument. That did not happen here 10 years ago. I get cut off in traffic all the time! Rude people push their way around you at the store. My hunting spot was totally invaded for the first time in 15 years. The ohv trails need more help because everyone buys 4 wheelers and dirt bikes and tears them up thinking that the forest service should fix them. I won't even ride or volunteer my time on Canfield mountain anymore because of all the people riding it. Eventually everything you hate I will hate because it is coming here. And when you raise your voice about it people tell you to shut up about it because they don't want to hear it. They found their paradise but forgot we already had one long before everyone decided to relocate here. It's really all about perspective and from your perspective Idaho is way better than Fresno. But I can remember a time when Fresno was a farming town just like our area used to be. Growth can be good but in the end what really happens is the destruction of your small town as it grows into a metro city. Idaho is on it's way and eventually I will be on my way out looking for my Idaho elsewhere. Because home got turned into suburbia...

there is no hug smiley so here {{{{HUGS}}}} I agree. Even though im a relative newbie Idahoan. But I must say, I wont give up. This is home and I intend to do my part to keep it great. I love winters like the last two because I saw how many people it sent packing.

Clear?

Exactly this. Perfectly said.

lacyann,
Not to write off what you're saying...but I do think it's important to view things within the framework of your own personal experiences versus making some pretty broad statements.
I am pretty close with quite a few hunters in this area (me being a retired cop and shooting enthusiast). I heard of ONE GUY this season who felt his usual "secret spot" was being encroached upon. ONE GUY. Most everyone else had a pretty good time, although the usual happened and some guys were skunked...hey, it happens.
I often think that for every person who is "fed up" with Idaho, there is another person saying "huh?....I still love it here"....so I tend to take posts like yours with sweeping generalizations with a huge grain of salt...no offense...

I have to agree Sage. Although I too want "Idaho" to always remain ideal there are lots of people looking for the same thing. To me Idaho is perfect. I realize its likely changed but so has EVERY other place in America. There are just more people everywhere. People live longer and healthier. LOL
When there are too many people out in the woods we go home and wait till they all have to go back to work, THEN go back out. One more great reason to homeschool.

pop density went from 6 to 7 persons per sq km. New Jersey is well over 1000.
We are still ok!

Yes! New Mexico is beautiful, perfect and has tons of hunting and out door rec and in desperate need of good citizens. Try it. Plus you wont have to worry about extreme winters but you get true seasons.

Sorry those are tourists you're getting on the Oregon coast. We lived in Oregon for two years and the drivers were very courteous and OR ranks at top of the list for safe drivers.
We are currently in FL (also lived in CA for many years) and I didn't know what reckless and insane was until moving here. There is a very "me first" attitude.
