Seriously. When we moved to Idaho I was surprised how few guardrails and idiot-signs there were...like they expect us to think for ourselves or sumpin'...

Escaping from New York, it was a learning experience that when they put up "suggested speed" signs for curves...you might want to pay attention.

It's nice to see that they haven't paved all the hiking trails yet, out this way.

Agree on the guard rails...most mountain roads (especially forest service roads) would have Easterners having a fit.

I am excited, but as Sage reminds we got the handover of Streets and the Curve. I know we are close and in many ways the whole shebang can be opened up with little worry. Me? I want to see them cross every t and dot every i so it is over and done with completely. It is like my house, though 98% done, I am always thinking of those 2%.

As for safety...I don't mind the boilerplate set up of signs and guardrails. While I don;t need them, my kids might, as well as tourists. Seems the reasonable and decent thing to do at minimal cost.

As for the redesign of traffic flow in the streets...now that should be interesting. I suspect it will take a while to get that part done as well as get used to it, especially the random distribution of yields and four-way intersections.

It will also be nice to get the Dover bridge done--apparently they had a lot of problems, from errors to bad luck. Once done, it will feel luxurious.

It's happening! The Sand Creek Byway will be dedicated tomorrow, June 29, at 1:30!

Sand Creek Byway to be dedicated Friday (video) - Coeur d'Alene Press: Local News

Let's hope it will be to the overall advantage of Sandpoint. I'm not totally sold until I see the completed landscaping around Sand Creek...but it'll be wonderful not to have the semis move through town.

Looks like dedication doesn't equal opening...Here's an article listing the pros and cons of the whole concept. But it looks like somebody is misrepresenting the "sinking" issue--it's really "settling." Sounds like somebody has an axe to grind. Anyway, we'll be driving across the byway soon!
