The Sandpoint Bypass?
Got a question for you Sandpoint people: We're coming up in June to play with dirt on our property , and we plan to stay a couple of days in Sandpoint. We've thought of the Edgewater Best Western, but we know they're constructing the new bypass right along Sand Creek --so does anyone know if the Edgewater right now is a construction nightmare? And how do you feel about the bypass? At first we were so upset that they would do this to the history and beauty of your town, but we realize that Sandpoint really can't handle the heavy traffic through its city streets.
By the way, the lake looks beautiful this morning! (Sigh)

CFF, traffic through Sandpoint is a nightmare in the summer, on a bad day it can take 1/2-3/4 of an hour hour or more to make it the 2-3 miles from the south end of long bridge to Pondaray. Lots of people are really looking forward to the bypass being open, though that will be a couple more years. Traffic doesn't seem to be any worse going through on 95 due to construction, I can't comment on how things are over by the Best Western. If someone else doesn't have an answer I'll make a swing by there in the next few days and check it out.
BTW, glad to hear that you're coming up to play!

The bypass will remove approx. 750 trucks PER DAY from going through town, and quite a bit of north-south traffic. I think it's years overdue.
The Best Western Edgewater is an AWESOME place to stay, right on the beach. Not a real problem with the construction since it's on the other side of the train tracks from the construction. The Edgewater is where we have all our friends stay that we're trying to "sell" on moving here....great choice....

Thanks, Trace, Toyman and Sage! We're going for the Edgewater . And I have to say that we are beginning to appreciate the pro-bypass point of view, after years of summer visits to Sandpoint, and being stuck in downtown traffic. I just wish they could have detoured traffic west of town instead of along the water, but that would have presented even more formidable problems, I'm sure. We just loved that little spot by the bridge over Sand Creek with the great view--where kids would swing out on the tree rope and jump in the creek...I guess that's gone now?
Trace, what a beautiful location! And I can hear it calling you! If there were a webcam featuring our property I think I'd sit and watch it all day long...

I'm wondering when Kalispell Mt will get smart and build a bypass, They widened the highway just to have all that traffic dump right into downtown ! Oh my wife just told me that they are working on it.

Well, I do hit the Harrison webcam several times a day .. That thing was a real gem of a find.. I've seen deer, elk, turkeys etc. on it, and even snapped some pics of them!.. Its VERY cool to be able to check the weather and SEE the conditions live!!!
Have a blast buddy! I'm plotting and planning our trip now.. We were supposed to be there a week ago but had to postpone..
Anyone who wants to check out the webcam, and live weather go to www.harrisonvacations.com

I picked up some construction debris on Friday and blew out an 8 day old tire on the Long Bridge. With a horse in the horse trailer I was pulling. We limped over to Swan's Landing and Clyde's was out in no time.
I hate construction.

Oh shoot...I guess your tire became one of those eggs that get broken in order to make the Bypass omelet... Good thing you didn't go off the bridge! Did you grab the chance to eat at Swan's? I understand they have a new owner Probably also new prices...
