Default Why Hailey/Sun Valley?

Why would I want to live in these areas if I was retired?

Unless you can afford a really high cost of living, you don't. Otherwise, it's a beautiful area. I love to visit, but probably wouldn't plant any permanent stakes down myself. Get to know a few residents and see what they think. The biggest complaints I hear are huge living costs, but if it's not a worry for you, enjoy retirement!

That area also has a good 4-5 months of winter. Combined with the cost of living it doesn't seem like a good place for the average retiree. But if money is not a concern and you like a mountain/ski area type of place, it might just be ideal.

Close to unlimited outdoor activities, nice friendly small town, with big city recreation, happy people with smiling faces, beautiful area, a lot more winter sun and less winter wind than other parts of Idaho.

I chose to retire in Montana but when I was considering Idaho, I was looking at Salmon. I liked the isolation factor and lack of snooty rich Hollywood types.

If you retire wealthy and can afford the Sun Valley area you would enjoy world class restaurants, fishing, biking, winter sports, summer sports, the arts, the performing arts, history, legends, and some exquisite mountain scenery.
