Default Did your California Dog cut it in Idaho

We have this little Boston Terrior and as you can tell by this photo that he hides inside my jacket when were camping in the deserts of California.
This male dog is a Sissy and I bet he even squats when he tinkles

Is there hope for him in Idaho or will he freak when it freezes..

I can see him now peeking out the doggie door seeing snow on the yard and turning right back around and pooping on my new rug

Did your little dogs get acclamated or are you shopping for new carpet ?

I have a doberman and he is the biggest baby about being cold. But he LOVES the snow. This year him and our Pom-Chi played in the snow for HOURS at a time. Just make sure you clear out and area for him to go potty and you should be ok. Dog jackets get popular on small dogs when it gets really cold. I think you will be ok though!

we have a papillion who we took with us to a cabin up by Lowman, the dog made it clear she "does not do" camping and prefers carefully manicured grass to the prairie grass...I'd say your dog may end up on doggie prozac for a while, but will adjust!!!

Most dogs acclimate just fine DR. Go with the suggestion of making a potty path and area as the little ones appreciate that. As girly as it might seem, the Boston sports a thin coat and not being acclimated to the area until after a year, I would certainly get him a coat for when he goes outside.

If you considering going for walk in the winter there are even winter boots for them, it's to help them from getting snow melt and such on their pads.

As the ground is covered during winter, keep an eye on his nails, they won't be doing as much of a natural wear down and you'll want to keep them trimmed to prevent the quicks from getting too long.

This is our manly pug. We brought him from Arizona and he acclimated just fine. He does like to go in just a small area when the snow is deep.

Handsome! My doberman likes to eat snow! Both of my dogs have short hair, and the one at least got right down to business when there was snow on the ground....Now it's summer and I'm looking for someone to help me build a fence and just got back from buying every dog repellent on the shelf at Petco.....for my ruined carpets....Arghhh!

Our biggest problem with the cold is my dal's arthritis, I'll take an accident in the house over seeing my pup in pain any day : (

Yah your pup will do fine. We had a schnauzer we brought with us from CA. Now it was the cats that were not too thrilled. Ever see a cat trying to fly?? Heheheh They did get used to the snow and seemed to half way enjoy it as the years went by. Even this last winter the kitties spent time in their outside kitty kennel in the snow. Our neighbor has a Boston and a little terrier almost no hair. They do just fine. I second dig the path to the potty spot.
