Default Anyone have experience with Redfish Lake/Camping?

Just wondering which campgrounds to check out, I heard there are paddleboats for rent, kayaks, etc....

I do! I just got back from there a week ago! We stayed at the more economically priced lodge rooms. I would not hesitate to recommend the rooms for you or a spouse on non-weekend nights. That's the key though. You can hear everything from the lodge below if you are staying in the lodge rooms. My girlfriend and I rented a canoe for 2 hours. We nearly made it to the end of the lake, but we were paddling at a good rate. Grand Mogul is breathtaking and the scenery near the area is spectacular. If you are feeling adventurous and you are physically in shape, pay to get shuttled by boat to the end of the lake then hike back to the lodge. There's a great feeling of accomplishment once you get to the top of the trail.

Also note, there are no Lilly's in Lilly pond yet and there is some snow yet on the trails. The water at the lodge is still bone chilly and the mornings are cool and crisp.

If you have to eat anywhere in Stanley, stick solely to Stanley Baking Company. That's really the only place I can recommend. All other places were either overpriced and/or bad food.

Don't forget Lake Alturus also.
Very close to Redfish Lake but much less tourists. Great camp grounds.
Wolf came into our camp at night and whooped up on a deer.
My kids were freaky over that... But it's a genetic thing

The campgrounds right along Redfish Lake usually fill up fast but there are several on the other large lakes along the highway; Alturas, Stanley, Pettit.
There is a lodge right on Redfish that rents out canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, and they have a large boat that they use to take tourists around the lake.

There are also campgrounds along the Salmon River either direction of Stanley but if you head North out of Stanley you will see hot springs along the river and highway. Sunbeam is a nice hotsprings to pull off for and soak in for a while but the river will be running fast and high this time of year. If you have time don't miss The Land of the Yankee Fork ghost town and museums.

And I have had people tell me that they were afraid to go camping or fishing because of wolfs.
