Default Rising property values

Just wanted to let anyone considering moving to the Kamiah/Kooskia area of Idaho County that we received our annual property valuations (on which our taxes are based) on Monday June 1, 2009. Ours went up considerably despite a new rock pit across the road from our home which completely disrupts our lives up to 24 hours a day when operating like it did from Feb 20 until May 6, 2009. It may or may not be activated again, but I do know that Knife River Corp has a 5 year lease on the land with another 5 year option. Everyone KNEW how badly it was disrupting our and our neighbors' lives and devoiding us of all of our rights, but even the ITD (Idaho Transportation Dept) took advantage of the lawlessness of this area and extended the torture from 28 days to 56 or 57 day to get more aggragate materials for other projects. Our neighbor and us called several friends in the area and some land values went up as much as 600%. So, you know what that will do to the "cheap" taxes here. There weren't enough sales in 2008 to base the values on so they used the 11 sales from 2007. That is hogwash. If there weren't enough sales in 2008 then the values are obviously down since 2007 because the mills all laid off their people in 2008. They must think we're awfully dumb? I asked about the affect of the rock pit and they said we'd have to show them sales showing the drop in prices. Well, no one is wanting to buy the lots that are left due to the pit and all it can bring.
