A Word of Warning from an Idahoan to another Idahoan is watch the speed limit along I-15 from Ogden to Slc and grin as you study crazed, insane, completely oblivious Utah people breaking the laws of the land which they are supposed to adhere to and sinning as they risk others lives weaving and speeding in and out of all lanes of traffic.

Once back in God's Country of Idaho, and if time permits, take the Weston exit off I-15 just north of Malad and head East to Preston and then drive North on Highway 91 towards Downey and you will see Red Rock where Lake Bonneville broke through back in ancient time and eventually flooded along the Snake River through Southern Idaho.

Chesterfield, which is an old Mormon ghost town East of Inkom is interesting too.
Yes, the official speed limit on I-15 is the following:

Oregon/Washington residents: 70
Idaho residents: 75
Utah residents: 82.5

Enjoy!

I've been wondering the same thing about our dear leader....

I actually enjoy driving slow in Idaho (good thing, since I live in Shelley!!!).

I also enjoy driving fast in California, especially certain stretches where maneuvering at high speeds is real sport.

But my experiences in Utah have less to do with witnessing the high speed dance between man and machine, pitted alongside others, so much as just really bad inattentive drivers going too fast for their own skill, reaction time, and level of awareness.

Question Driving Differences Throughtout the State

Funny Sage.

Any specific reasons you would think drivers from various states would drive differently in southeastern ID than NID or the rest of the state?

My personal take is that WA drivers are the worst drivers up here, whereas MT drivers are just fast.

But really it's just what people are used to...when we cross the border into WA the speed limit drops to 70, and through Spokane it's 60. So Spokane drivers seem to be happy at about 65, where we Idahoans are comfortable at 70-75, and MT drivers who are so used to wide open spaces tend to do 80.

So if UT drivers are doing 80+ through SE Idaho, I would think they're from rural UT, not SLC. We were in SLC last week for soccer, and it seemed like when I was going 70 I was passing everyone. Most metro SLC people seemed comfortable at 65'ish.

Ahhhhhh, now we learn the REAL reason you opted for NID, Trace, over Idaho Falls.

Will you please either send me a DM or post where you got those tickets. I promise to be discreet and not share, unless you want others to know. Nope, I don't know anyone in law enforcement, well that isn't true, but the ones I know are at desks not patroling for those speeding. Absolutely, there are some traps between McCammon and Ogden.

Two within an hour - that beats my mother's record and I thought she had the worst possible. At times, she uses to her advantage the fact her parents gave her 3 names, her maiden name and both married names. It use to be certain newspapers posted the names of those speeding. She didn't wish to be well-known in that category, so she would use one of her other names (which legally were part of her name, but not what people called her) when being cited for speeding. She had a few other tricks too, but I'll save them. I might need them someday.

I know for a fact I'm not the only person here who has both a UT and ID driver's license. So I find it funny what people say about drivers from different states since most of us are products of driving in various states. That being said, UT drivers are bad. Many act clueless about how to respond to an emergency vehicle driving at a fast speed. And I think UT drivers are awful on I-15. I laugh when I see UT plates in ID and try to decide if the driver is native to ID or UT. I personally look forward to either seeing the sign welcoming people to ID or the sign saying I'm enterintg Salt Lake County. Davis County (Bountiful, Layton etc. is a mess, IMHO) and difficult to manuever at times. That's why the Front Runner is so popular.

I know others of you have had driver's licenses in WA, UT, CA and other states. I'm just not going to name you, but would interested in your observations too.

Sage, I do agree with you about MT drivers. They scare me. No surprise in my mind why all those white crosses are alongside the road close to certain bars etc.

Thanks for the laughs.
