I don't know if it's too late to suggest something for your road trip, but maybe next time you can check out the loop trail at the rest stop. Hell's Half Acre Southbound Rest Stop Idaho Hiking & Backpacking

The "trail" at the Malad rest stop is fun as well.

You know, I meant to post about that rest stop, it was absolutely lovely there! We go down again in August, but this time our wildest dreams came true and a band we love called REHAB is playing, so we will be rocking out in the car the whole way to SLC and even more so with a ton of new CD's on the way back!!!
