I SO miss Idaho! We've lived in Utah for the past 6 years and while it's pretty similar, it's just not the same
I grew up in Burley and Rupert and still have a lot of family and friends there. I miss driving around in the hills south of Burley, Mt. Harrison/Independence Lakes and the like, City of Rocks and the very small town of Albion. Sure there wasn't much to do but you make your own fun :P The sunsets were always gorgeous, especially in late summer (I'm thinking because of all the dust in the air from harvest!). I miss seeing the Sawtooth mountains to the north and visiting the gorgeous Ketchum/Sun Valley area, and making fun of all the hoity-toity "residents" flying in on their private planes at the airport. Miss fishing in the rivers and white water rafting up near McCall and Smith's Ferry. And aj_nz? Burgers Etc has the BEST milkshakes. |

Miss Idaho? WOW...Duh! I grew up in Portland, OR but we visited Fairfield, ID (family) while growing up. It was desert, but mountains were right there and it was just SO different. I love green, but hate rain..sigh. ha ha The moment I had the chance we moved to S. Central Idaho. Checked out many small country towns, enjoyed Skiing in Sun Valley, Craters of the Moon, Dierkes Lake in Twin, Kayaking on the Snake. Being near farms was new and oh so relaxing, big blue skies and lots of sunshine, big powerful sunsets! Got into kayaking and biking when we lived there.
Then we moved to Northern Idaho. It's a whole different world up there, literally! We got a cabin in the woods about 20mi. East of Sandpoint (when you could still afford to do that). Mountains, water, lakes, beaches on the lake. It was incredible!! Watch out for Moose on the roads when you go driving!! Since we lived in the mts. we had snow..and I mean FEET of snow from November to May. We got all the snow, but the town of Sandpoint gets LOTS of rain (and snow). Can't say I miss living IN snow or those winter temps that can be where 0 is the high! Enjoyed a drive south for a yurt weekend in McCall (Central Idaho). That was a cute town! Saw lots of towns along 95 and interesting scenery. We left after 2.5 years for a job in N.Nevada..ugh kill me now. Let see...bars, brothels, gambling and mines...yeah, that's about it. HA HA We satiated our desires by taking drives and seeing sights. We've seen mostly Northern (Panhandle), S. Central, Central and Eastern Idaho. Haven't spent a lot of time yet in the SW (Boise area), or SE (Lava Hot Springs-Montpelier). We'll visit them next year!! I have been pining away since daily! We are moving in another month back to Twin Falls, Idaho after only 1.5yr in NV. It's a bit like going home since we were around the Twin area for about 5 years awhile ago. Not my favorite region but a nice place with the canyon, Magic/Pomerelle & SunValley for winter fun and we have friends there. No matter where we are, I am at home in Idaho. Since moving to Idaho, we haven't settled in a place longer than two years but have lived in Idaho for the past 7 years and still want to see more of it. Given the choice, I'd say a mix of the two worlds (Northern and Southern) would be a perfect fit. Too bad there aren't any bigger town in Central Idaho (or cheaper) that would be an ideal, right in the middle! |

Do I miss Idaho? You betcha. I was born in Rupert and even though my family moved me away I spent summer and 2 weeks in the fall there. I loved hunting jackrabbits, pheasants and fishing. It's not as cold there as it used to be. I love the cold and hate the heat so I'm fine with the weather. I have a lot in American Falls but prefer the Rupert-Burley area. Twin Falls is even better I think. Take me home!

I miss Boise soooooooooo much. We are living in N. Carolina for the summer & can't wait to get back home! We move every summer for my husband's job, last year it was San Diego. It has made me appreciate & love Boise so much more. It is for sure my home!
