Some general things to think about
: 1. Do you have a specific interest in rehab, such as neuro or cardiac, ortho, cancer etc.? Those questions matter as Twin Falls doesn't have neurosurgeons and doesn't do the volume of neuro Idaho Falls. Likewise, Twin Falls, the smaller city, doesn't do Cardiac Surgery, so their level of cardiac rehab would most likely be different than what you would find in Idaho Falls.
Think about what else you enjoy in your off time, but also what areas of PT you enjoy. Idaho Falls is strong in Ortho and will only be getting stronger.
Twin Falls has one hospital, which was purchased by St. Luke's from Boise. St. Luke's is building a chain of hospitals so the "feeder," hospitals refer to St. Luke's in Boise. So not as many services are available for patients in Twin Falls.
Idaho Falls actually has 3 hospitals. I know you want outpatient. Idaho Falls has a catchment area for medical care of about 300,000 people, as southern MT, western WY and all parts of eastern and southeastern ID can access certain types of specialty care either not available elsewhere in Idaho, or only recently in Boise (like GYN - Oncology).
I'm not sure what Twin Falls' catchment area is. The larger hospitals in Boise and elsewhere are solidifying their relationships with the various Twin Falls area hospitals to maintain them as feeder hospitals. So overall, the acuity is lower for inpatient. How quickly the Boise -based hospitals send patients back to Twin Falls, I don't know.
Also, Twin Falls is about 110 miles from Boise, which has a nice airport with several airline. Twin Falls has a smaller airport with service from one, maybe two airlines.
Idaho Falls is the regional airport for eastern and southeastern ID. Since Delta and Northwest merged, that makes the number of airlines only be 4 who fly into Idaho Falls. Boise serves the western part of the state and Idaho Falls serves the eastern as far as airlines.
Idaho Falls is 200 miles from Salt Lake City. Salt Lake Metro (Wasatch Front) is close to 2 million people. The SLC airport now has direct flights to Paris and Japan, being a Delta hub, plus many points in between. There are more airlines that fly into SLC.
Probably everything else I have to say I'll say in a DM. I do know some of your interests and will recommend some ways that you can learn more.
Will anyone you're talking to fly you out to Idaho to look at it? I'd encourage you to visit the cities first and see what feels right to you, if at all possible.
Look for you DM before breakfast tomorrow a.m. Sorry for the delay, I've been quite busy with other things, but am happy to share what I know.
