Did you move MrGoodburn?
MrGoodburn, I see this post was updated just a few months ago, and I was curious to see if you found work in the Spokane/CDA area and if you left Clovis? We went up in Sept 2009 and fell in love with the area, then took my mom up to look at houses for my parents in the Spring of 2010, when I had a job interview. Several of us interviewed for that position from various states, but none were hired due to budget restrictions, so back to Cali we came. Now, with a daughter and another on the way, we're wanting to get out of here even more. It looks like we might be able to purchase a house up there in the beginning of 2014, so we'll probably wait until then to move. Please share if you made the move, how you liked it, and what the economy is looking like for jobs right now in that area. Blessings to you!

I think you might like the Twin Falls area. Also it has a reasonably mild climate. It is not uncommon for the temps to drop to -25 F here in the winter, and I have seen it as low as -35.

I had plans to move, but was pulled out of work at my current job on disability for a neck injury. I have 2 herniated discs in my neck with one of the two pushing on my spinal cord. I will be having surgery at the end of summer to correct this, and will continue my search again once I'm healed up.
I'm open to just about anywhere in N. Idaho at this point, though I prefer Sandpoint, CDA, or somewhere around there. I hope to have a job lined up before moving as I don't have much of a cash reserve left due to medical bills.
I can tell you though; It is very hard to find work anywhere in the states right now due to outsourcing and the economy. It's even harder when you are trying to find a job in a state you aren't currently living in. I have found that a lot of places simply won't deal with outsiders, some don't take you seriously, and others want to interview in person.
I will most likely end of pulling some money out of my retirement fund and head up there for a few months to see what I can find after I heal up.
I wish you the best of luck!
MGB

Good luck with your surgery, Mr. Goodburn. I will have spinal fusion with rods and screws next week. I have to heal first before making the trip to Idaho.

Spokane should be off your list, to much crime. Invariably here in Coeur d Alene if a crime gos down its caused by someone from Spokane. Ask any cope here about who causes issues in the summer, it's almost never the locals and almost always Spokane folk.
When you watch the news here there is constant crime in Spokane, here in CDA a speeding ticket is a cops highlight of the day. The trash got pushed to post falls a few years ago and then Spokane where they have Been welcomed in true blue state fashion and set up shop.
I'd say sand point or coeur d Alene would be your best 2 choices. Both are just really great family oriented and safe places to live and CDA is a bit cheaper than sand point.

Mr Goodbur, my husband had disc replacement surgery on his neck last year, it went very well. I don't know if that's what you are having, but wanted to let you know that although is sounds really scary, the outcome can be super! Good luck with your recovery and your search!
