Which towns in Idaho have that mountain/ski town look/feel
I really don't mind the tourists, and I really like the look/feel and some of the shops, restaurants and variety that you might see in say, Vail or Park City. Are there any areas in Idaho that have that kind of look and feel to them with a good variety of shopping and things to do? I am a big skiing fan, and like that type of environment. If Park City weren't so expensive, might consider that area.
For those that may have seen me on here before, I am an FP by training, so if I look hard enough can probably find work almost anywhere (luckily for me considering our economy).

Sun Valley. Just as expensive (or more) as Park City, Jackson Hole, etc.
McCall. The mountain isn't as good, it isn't as trendy, and the prices aren't quite as steep. You also have an amazing lake nearby. However, there is no economy. Valley County's unemployment is >25%.
Maybe Sandpoint?

Yeah, I have been looking at a lot of pictures and websites about Sandpoint. Seeing that it's growing along with the CdA corridor (sorry native Idahoan's, I know you lament this growth and influx from us other-staters), would probably be good for me since they would likely need more primary care docs in the area. I want to get around 5 at least towns to look at. I don't even mind towns with populations under 6 to 7,000, as long as there are maybe bigger towns or cities within about an hour's drive for some "culture" (movies, shopping, etc).

I second Sandpoint, very Santa Barbara feel to it in the summertime (without the bums). If you want the REAL ski town feel, you could always buy a place up in Schweitzer.

Definitely Ketchum. , or less expensive Hailey. I like these mountain ski towns better than Park City or Aspen.

I remember once reading that Coeur d'Alene was ranked the best ski town in the US because of its proximity to several ski areas in North Idaho.

Yeah, if Im not mistaken there are 5 ski resorts within striking distance of CdA...
Ive been to Wallace and thats a up and coming place I think.. Pretty reasonable to live there from what I understand.. They recently added a big water park there for the summer too..
