Hi Heidi! A lurker comes out of the shadows! We knew you were there! Welcome to the Porch! In winter the virtual NID Front Porch is enclosed, and we have an indoor-outdoor fireplace going. But you have to bring your own mulled wine!

I saw that too! And texted a picture to hubby with "Snow in Sandpoint!!!" LOL I love the webcam. I also check the Lookout Pass webcam frequently. Always some nice pictures there.

Isn't snow in Sandpoint a typical winter event, or is it remarkable now due to the weather this winter in particular?

I grew up in northern Wisconsin and Colorado, I was stationed in Alaska as a Paratrooper in the Infantry, the first snow of the season has always been special to me and a lot of people I know. But by the end of the season it can get a bit "meh".

Yep, it's typical, but more so later in winter. So the first/second snow is something special. It looks like it is already melting in town. Time to pop into MickDuff's for beer soup!

I hear that! The first snow is always exciting in some fashion, we just received our first snow a few days ago, very late and a very mild winter thus far, but very welcome! It really helps to brighten up the darkness during the long winters here.

Made it to the Rathdrum Prairie this morning. Purposely stayed west of Spokane last night because I wanted to go through Spokane during the daylight and then into the CdA area. Not a good idea! Fog was so thick that I was only able to drive no faster than 45 mph (to not overdrive my vision). Fog eventually lifted after church and I spent the afternoon driving around. After gas up at Costco, drove around Hayden, out to Rathdrum, and up to Sandpoint. I meet with a realtor tomorrow afternoon. I've been saving up my questions.

Travel and Leisure magazine named Sandpoint as one of the prettiest winter towns for 2014, pretty cool!
