Default Bears in Pocatello?

I, admittedly, have an irrationally strong fear of bears. We currently live near Aspen, where the bears break into homes often (this is a really bad year- there are a couple of break-ins each day, and they've been wandering into hotels and businesses as well).

What's the bear situation like in Pocatello? And what kind of bears do you have?

Juniper117 is right. This is the worst situation for bears ever in Colorado. The Division of Wildlife people had to put a bear down yesterday. The bears are losing their fear of humans and freely roaming through towns looking for food.

On the Colorado forum, I started a thread early last week called Wildlife, Wild, and Human Decisions, it's on page one, third from the bottom. There are links to the story through different Colorado papers.

Bear in yard. Solution = pellet gun aimed at bears rear, results in startled bear running back into woods and leaving you alone in the future. Suggestion: stay in house while shooting at bear with pellet gun. Have Remington 7mm mag beside you in case bear decides to run into the house instead of the woods. Either way bear leaves you alone or you have new bear rug.
