Believe it or not, yes. Black people are moving to Idaho. In 2000, the African-American population was at 8,127. In 2008, that number increased to 14,470. That is an increase of over 43.8%(44% if you round the numbers). I thought it would have been Maine, but apparently, it's Idaho. Not far behind is Montana. The African-American population has grown by 32% since 2000. Actually, the states with the fastest growing African-American populations are in the West.

Yes. Going from 0 to 1 makes for a large statistical jump.

One must also consider that California has lost some of its African-American population, and from what I have heard, many have gone to Idaho.

I grew up in Boise and in my past summer visit I was very surprised how much more diverse the city appears compared to when I left seven years ago. So that does not surprise me.

this thread should be closed. Idaho is a nice, safe place to visit and live for people of all ethnic backgrounds.

This best-selling book deals with the Black author's recent visit to northern Idaho, among other white-centric places. Look for it in your local library.

Chill out. A lot of us up here aren't very PC, and we still don't think it's a bad thing to call people African American. That term has become part of the common vernacular.
