Default N. Idaho Burgers...again;-)

Well after many years of hearing about Hudsons burgers in downtown CdA We were FINALLY around there when there wasnt a line 10 deep out the door.. I gotta say I was totally UNIMPRESSED... It was just a small burger with nothing special about it.. The tomato was all lopsided, the pickels were the cheap ones you get in 5 gal buckets etc... The price wasnt too bad but it was nothing like I expected. Just a regular plain ole burger..

Now Paul Bunyans right down the street? WOW, now thats a good Burger!
Angus beef, great fixins, and they even have all thier burgers on sale for $1.99 now.. We tried some of the double bacon burgers and LOVED them!

I hate to disparage an old CdA staple, but for me Im skipping the line and making a B-line for Paul Bunyans..

I have not been paid anything by Paul Bunyans to make these statments..LOL..

I hate to say it but I agree.. I have only gone to hudsons once and it was ok but nothing to write home about. Our favorite is Rogers (down by 15th and Sherman). If you havent tried them you gotta go there. I know at one point they were selling so I am hoping they havent since sold... im stationed in Oregon right now but CDA is still my home.

I am another one here that doesn't get the Hudson thing. They are ok but not worth any wait.

Rogers did not even open last summer(2008) and someone finally bought it mid summer this year and opened for the last half of the year.

Have you had the "Damn Good Burgers" at Trinity Cafe in Sandpoint? Not sure they're worth $9 but my kids are still talking about them 2 years later.

Trace,
What so I love about Hudson's? It is Hudson's. There is something about being a regular at a place...listening to everyday conversation and the occasional whopper. I swear the burgers start getting tastier.

Reminds me of Swan's Oyster Bar on the Polk in San Francisco a generation ago. Great food and family warmth.

Once places become only about the food, I stay home with the wife, for even the 5-star joints are about the aesthetic and service.

S.

What's funny is that some of the little resturants in the out of the way towns seem to have the best food! We hit a little place in Elk River, great burgers a huge side of home made fries and cheap. We ran into somewhere like that in Mullen this weekend. Great Paddy melt. I'm a big eater and don't often leave anything on the plate, did here.

For CDA, I like the old Ground Round, I think it's Nosworthies now, on Government Way, across from the fairgrounds.
