It's funny, where I lived back east I was on about 1 1/2 rural acres on a paved road, most farmers sold off road frontage pretty cheaply. I moved here looking for something comparable, only to find that you're usually looking for tiny crowded lots in developments, or 5, 10 or 20 acre parcels. Our first place was in the hills South of CDA about 10 miles, 10 acres, seemed pretty remote at first. We started wanting more room and more distant neighbors pretty quickly. We're on 20 acres now and consider it a good start, 100 would be better.

(having said that, we've always had great neighbors)
