Norcalmom101,
I would think this is rather self-evident. The more conservative a town, I would think there would be fewer abortion providers. I do not have stats to this effect, just what I have always assumed....but then I would have assumed other SE Idaho towns would have similar aversion to allowing abortion providers to set up shop...

Maybe that is an accurate measure. Would that mean Idaho Falls is more conservative than Salt Lake City?

Quite possibly. Also the further NE you go from IF is more conservative, i.e.; Fremont County, Madison County and Jefferson County.

And Salt Lake City is less and less LDS by population as more people move in from California and other states. I betcha it's under 50% now...probably less...

30%. And SLC's mayor is one of the most liberal in the country.

Does this just reflect others moving in to the area or are LDS residents moving out as others move in? If so, are significant numbers moving anywhere in particular?

I would think that LDS-faith people aren't reproducing at nearly the rate that people are flooding in from other states.

Suburbs maybe? SLC isn't as mormon as it used to be, but all the cities around can be literally up to 90%.

That's true...we were in Provo/Orem for a soccer tournament, and there seemed to be an LDS building on just about every block. I'm sure it's exaggerated in my mind...but quite literally, it was pervasive...

You'll find that in SE Idaho as well as Utah, it seems the smaller/farther from the larger cities that bring in people through jobs and universities, you are you'll have less diversity, a greater percentage of people that subscribe to the same faith, and more groupthink going on. That's been my experience anyway.
Idaho Falls has a greater percentage of Mormon population than Salt Lake City, but a much smaller percentage that say Rexburg or Soda Springs. Many rural towns in SE Idaho and Utah are dominated by the LDS church or are highly polarized. (You're in or you're not). I like the added diversity after moving to Pocatello from Blackfoot some 12 years ago.
Idaho and Utah in general have seen a large influx of people so I'd say the overall percentage of people who are LDS is going down.
Norcalmom101, seeing some of you other posts, at first I thought that you wouldn't have culture shock moving to Shelley from the Bay Area, but I'm changing my mind. Shelley is a long way culture wise from the Bay Area....
