Morels
It's mushroom season in Idaho!! Was wondering if anyone has ideas of ways to fix them. My usual is frying in red onions and butter and putting them on steak and baked potatoes. Any other suggestions??

Lucky you!!! I had no idea that morels grew in Idaho; I thought it was just a midwest thing. Seems to me they are delicious no matter how cooked!!!

I like a little brandy or dry sherry added to sauteed mushrooms. And they make a great risotto with maybe a little sliced Italian sausage and peas.

They are really plentiful this year and I am amazed at how big they are. I had my doubts this year due to the lack of snow. I have been going out and picking a shopping bag 1/2 to full at one time.
If you can get them early you beat the worms!!!
burdell, I hadn't tried the sherry or brandy but it does sound good. Thanks

I love to cook them sauteed in olive oil with onions. Sometimes I add some asparagus and serve over some fresh pasta. ymmmmmm. Our last week search has run out. You are lucky to have such good sources. I have heard the burn areas are producing quite well.

Where are you finding them? I have been in La Grande, but didn't know they grew in Idaho either. I live in Nampa, but I am willing to travel!

We were up near Council three weeks ago and found a fair amount, I think we were just a little bit early. I love morel hunting. The thrill is ceratinly in the chase for me although the end product is mighty wonderful.
