Mindset is a fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person's responses to and interpretations of situations or an inclination or habit. I like Italian Opera, yet I am not a member of La Cosa Nostra. Some Country Western Songs are great, but I am not a Bull Rider. Since childhood I have lived with and been friends with Latino's, yet I don't sing the praises of the Mexican Revolution.

I cannot define the term "white mindset", because I was influenced by both Hispanic and European culture. I don't choose friends by color of skin. Friends must have a common link and interest. The first European language spoken in the New World was Spanish, yet we don't all speak that language. English is now the main language of the U.S. and many parts of the world. Chances are if you are in International Business you speak English. We converse in English but as U.S. Citizens don't sing "God Save the Queen." I know folks who have several degrees and can have a rigorous discussion on any topic. Their theories and prognostications are based on book learning and no real life experience. If our country were invaded today they would stand there mouth agape and gawking at the enemy tanks rolling by, asking how could this happen?

Americans are influenced by our Judeo Christian Roots. If you are not influenced by these traditions, you then become a citizen of the world. That is your choice to make. That means you have no allegiance to this country in particular and would prefer to follow the world view. Again free country free choice. I probably would not consider such a person a friend because of a different "mindset".

I am open to discussion on a just about any topic but prefer to socialize with people of a common interest. Those who appreciate the beauty of Idaho, and plan to fight for her survival as a special and unique place and not let it turn into a place like Holland or any of the Scandinavian countries.

Don't know anyone in Donnelly, but I know two people that moved to McCall 26 years ago. Guess where they came from?

Not surprising at all.

I mention Donnelly for a specific purpose. I think locals know what I'm talking about. Maybe some of the older locals have the same experience in McCall about 30 years ago.

I left the woman in Montana and bugged out to Idaho and loved it in Idaho! I was ready to stay until I got an email saying I had my job back in Helena. So I left beautiful Coeur d' Alene and was back in sub zero Montana. I'm leaving my job this coming August and moving to either Moscow or Lewiston areas. I like the idea of long growing seasons, compared to Montana. Idaho rocks!

I lived in Helena before moving to Moscow. Helena is a lot colder. But, I took a long time to get used to Moscow's overcast winters. I prefer -10 and sunny to 35 and rainy.

The transplants we got from other states........ and other countries.......

I feel your pain, but those of us who've been in CA for 50+ years, have had more than our fair share of folks that have moved here and changed it.....

Be thankful that of the Californians that are moving to Idaho, many share the Idaho mindset, and intend to be productive good neighbors. Compare that to the hordes of welfare seeking invaders CA has endured for the last 40 years.......

Prezactamundo!! Couldnt have said it better myself...

KNOWING what "most" people in Cali say when you tell them your leaving for Idaho I think the ones that ARE coming for the most part are fine folks.
I feel like I'm a native Idahoan with a birth defect.. My new friends and neighbors here have accepted us just fine, and even defend us when people talk down about Californians..

My point about Californians has to do with the unchecked growth, liberal politics, etc. I'm a former Californian too but came with the idea of living as an Idahoan. My politics are conservative/libertarian leaning and I'm a gun owner.

We were accepted here easily as we didn't come with the idea that we should change things. I'm not so sure that most Californians that move to places like Boise, in particular, have the same mindset. If you come here from California or any other state to live as an Idahoan, you'll be fine. If you come with the idea that things here need changing, not so much.

Every Californian that I know that's either moved to ID or is contemplating it, feels exactly the same way.

Some of the finest folks I've ever known or worked with, are former Californians, and now are Idahoans....... Trust me.... Idaho's lucky to have them.....

Got into a conversation with some good local folks in Sandpoint last summer, total strangers, about general conditions in Idaho, and general ID values, vs. outside influence. We were all in agreement about the importance of maintaining and treasuring traditional ID values--and then it turned out that everyone was a CA refugee! Funny or sad? Depends on one's perspective--but I got a kick out of it!
