I was just funnin Blue.. To be honest actually seeing a wolf at a distance is pretty rare, and even then its likely to only be a glimpse.. I dont really feel that its alarming... I would like to see the population of them decreased over time though, and I think that will happen.

Those are the same folks who want to protect the Delta Smelt to the detriment of the California Farmer. I say eat the fish and let the farmer grow his crops.

THAT is a tragedy of epic proportions... Its a crying shame to see those farmers losing thier livelyhoods and farms. They should move here and start over.. You can farm without irrigation in the Palouse..

Hi, Blue Doe...
Not very alarming, except to the wolves. It's very difficult to have contact with wolves, and they know where you are long before you know where they are. The contacts are very limited.

The alarm should come if an area has a lot of coyotes and racoons- both carry tapeworms, and are more tolerant of people, so they live closer to humans. Dogs can pick up tapeworms if they come across wolf carcasses, but live encounters usually mean death for the dog.

The smartest thing to do if tapeworms are a real concern for you is to call a local vet and ask questions. They'll tell you more about local conditions than an Associated Press report ever will. The danger lies in not getting your pets de-wormed, and if your pets show worms, you need to talk to a doctor about you and your kids.
