Default Twin Falls or Rathdrum

My wife and I can retire soon and we are trying to figure out what area is best for us.
I like Twin and she likes Rathdrum.
We have 2 school age kids even though we are retiring soon.
If you had your way what area would you chose and why.
How do the winters vary in each town we mentioned.
We are just regular folks with open minds and open hearts who are tired of vacationing every year in Idaho and are ready to move there permanently.

Thanks

cabaret1224 is on a distinguished road
I see that this is a rather old post...if you are still considering I would definitely recommend Rathdrum being that you are retiring AND have school-aged children. We have a very relaxed community filled with retiree activities AND one of the highest scored school districts in the state. I don't like Twin because of the scenery (desert and just nothing to look at), people have seemed to be less personal in my visits to the area (more impersonal...I had three neighbors come to help me shovel my driveway of snow this last winter without a hint of being asked!), way more than could be listed here!! Rathdrum all the way!!

Even if DESERTRYDER isn't still looking, I appreciate your post. I haven't been up as far as Rathdrum, but I have been researching it as a possibility. The more I talk to people, the more I'm intrigued by it. Everything I've heard about the school system has been very positive.

Is there much in the way of things for kids to do. What about shopping, movies, etc. I'd be happy living in a cabin in the top of a mountain with nothing but helicopter access, but kids need a little more than that.

I think there would be more snow in Rathdrum, but if it was me in that situation I would go Rathdrum all the way!! Heck I would go that way in pretty much any situation unless you were looking at getting into farming or something..;-) The incredible scenery, lakes, rivers, and endless things to do, its all right in or near Rathdrum IMO..
