That is too cool. It says 4X normal speed but it looks about right for a Vette!!!!

Thanks!
That was the stretch from about Worley to the south side of Mica grade (maybe 8-10 miles south of CDA). It was a narrow, twisty stretch with no shoulders, a cut in a mountain on one side and a creek on the other. Drunks coming home from the Casino were an issue, but we had plenty of others. One I thankfully wasn't on was a teenage girl, trapped in the car and badly hurt while attempts at extracation were going on. A couple friends of mine were on that call, they talked to her until she passed. Had to be a rough one.

On a chearier note, that streatch is a divided highway now, really nice.

The woman at the Chamber of Commerce in Lewiston said it was called the
"Rattlesnake Grade" we are driving a 2009 Mazda 3, and it took us over an hour at least. (But my husband drove a little slower than necessary since I tend to get car sick). We saw some pretty amazing views, so will decide tomorrow which way we take to Moscow.

Will you be spending any time in Moscow? Or just driving through? It's where I live.

Enjoy the town. BE sure to head downtown-it is nice. Lots of little shops and a few art galleries. Chamber of Commerce is on Main St. downtown. Also check out the Moscow Food Coop.

Thanks!
SO how was the Spiral Highway?

We're driving a 30' class C RV. We'll be heading north over Lewiston Hill and later this summer head south. Can anyone tell me what it is like to drive the Spiral Highway in a vehicle like ours?
Slow climbs and even slower descents are preferred. Also, are there any runaway ramps on the Spiral? I see the 95 has several.
Suggestions welcomed!

The road isn't forgiving. I used to drive it all the time back in the early 60s when I was attending the U. of Idaho, and if a vehicle lost traction, as often as not it was sent tumbling down the hill. It was literally hell on wheels when it was icy in the wintertime.

A buddy back then drove his brand new Harley just a little too fast on one of those wide turns; when he came to, he was on his back with his head downhill just off the roadway. He watched his flaming Harley tumble end over end almost all the way down to the bottom. Easy come, easy go….

I have never seen an RV on the Spiral Highway. That ought to tell you all you need. Conversely, the nearby Lewiston Grade is also scenic, but has wide lanes and several runaway ramps.

I don't recall any runaway ramps on the spiral. There is no way I would drive a motorhome down it. It could be done, but it would be a long, slow trip (well, hopefully!), accompanied by shear terror! IIRC many of the curves have no guardrails and a several hundred foot drop, which, given the height of an RV, you will get a great view of. It's interesting enough on a motorcycle, though fun. Going north (up it) would be better, but for me would still be pucker-inducing.
