Default Hello Everyone!!!

Hello Everyone,
We are looking to relocate soon. We were looking at Twin Falls as I have family in Bellevue, but I would like other options as well. I have lived in Hailey and Bellevue before, but they don't have work that my husband does and they are a little more expensive then what we can afford. What part of Idaho would be best for what we are looking for? We are looking for all 4 seasons, Small town feel meaning a slower pace lifestyle, Family friendly (we have 5 kids ages 12, 10, 8, 7, 4), good schools, decent cost of living, a home with a yard, and jobs somewhat close by. My husband does computer work (IT, customer service, sales, repair, ect) and I run a home daycare (at this time). I have 2 children that have special needs so the specialist can't be too far away. We are looking for homes with property that aren't too expensive. Right now we are in the Phoenix, AZ area and we are looking for a smaller city/town to live. We are even willing to rent for a while. We would also like activities for the kids/adults/family, ect. I have done a lot of research on this myself, but I would like to hear from others who are out there. TIA for the help!!!

Jennifer

Post Ask the doctors who currently care for your special needs children for referrals.

It may depend on what kind of specialists your chlidren need. With St. Luke's Hospital in Boise creating a small chain of hospitals, the pediatric hospital within St. Luke's in Boise, probably would meet most of your needs. However, I don't know if there would be regional clinics in the Twin Falls area. While the pediatric hospital is certainly growing and adding more sub-specialists, they still aren't totally covered with every subspecialty.

If it was me, I'd ask the doctors who care for my children if their care could be managed in Boise, or if you should try to position yourself closer to Salt Lake City and the University of Utah School of Medicine/Primary Children's Medical Center.

I think Twin Falls is a good area to look at, given all the needs of your entire family. Depending on the costs of homes, which can't be close to what they are in Phoenix, you may want to look at one of the counties around Twin Falls, if Twin gets pricey. However, as you know, Blaine County is home to Sun Valley so not much is cheap in that county!

Good luck - I hope you are able to find what you need.

Hey Mtn States Resident,
The specialists that they need are a neurologist, orthopedic doctor, and any others they think are needed. They have a walking disability that is so rare the doctors so far don't know what it is.

I definitly know how expensive Sun Valley is but I do have to say that it is a very nice area.

I don't know much about Twin Falls or Boise. Any information I could get about it and the surrounding areas would be greatly appreciated.

I would love to find a place with family togetherness, and activities for the kids and family, as well as a place to feel safe enough that you could (if you choose) leave your doors unlocked. I did see this in Hailey/Bellevue so I know it is out there. I'm just hoping that I can find it somewhere a little less expensive.

Thanks so much for your response.

Jennifer

What about Sandpoint? I started a separate thread on this but it might work well in this one too. US News and World Report cited Sandpoint as a great place for retirees. Even though we are retired, that doesn't mean we want to live in a place with lousy schools and libraries. If a community values these assets it means they value the important things and are likely to be a vibrant community.

Any thoughts?
