The typical misconception that Idaho is full of Aryan nation types? I've seen a few threads discuss how that is in the past.

On your suggestion (thanks for your patience), I did a little more digging and found two helpful threads, in case someone like me comes along who typically looks at more recent posts:

Is Idaho safe for a Black Man to visit or even move to for that matter
Minorities living in Idaho, How is it???

A confession: to keep my original question simple, I stated my "obvious" race (the one nearly everyone assumes I am). Reading the threads above, I realized it's no big deal to divulge all my races (asian, black, native). FWIW I apologize for my prejudgment in assuming that would be strange. (For some folks here in SoCal, it's a mind-blower. )

norcalmom101, if you're still active on this board: you and I have the same philosophy on race. Sending you a befriend request.

Cheers everyone.

I'm asian. My families asian. No issues. Now here for 4 months. I've been to from Plummer to Sandpoint, camped and fished at a multitude of places in between. Everybody has been incredibly nice.

To be perfectly honest, if the racism myth keeps the area from getting crowded...then lets keep it going :P hehe j/k

I moved to idaho nearly two decades ago from seattle area and heard stuff then in plummer and more specifically to the armpit east of there.
a waitress on the reservation was ticked off that the indians were buying up all the land being sold by the whites and telling everybody whether you wanted to hear it or not. I didnt & told her that I thought it was great they were able to reclaim their own land & if the white landowners had no problems taking money from the natives, why should she?
then we decided to eat out, after that, at the casino after that which had better food anyway, even if it was smokey. the money came from the casino for the native peoples but they wisely turned it around to support their kids and old folks and managed to turn that area around, which had looked like a junk yard right on the highway.
oddly enough, the tribe soon bought that cafe and converted it for their own needs. I doubt if she was offered a position there.
actually that was an isolated incident of a scared ignorant person who could see the end in sight.
it was much much worse in st. maries, idaho, but that will have to wait for another day!
sorry to rag on but the mention of plummer & racism reminded me.
love cda now --so different. but I started life in idaho in small hole in the wall towns. heck, kellogg was a giant step up after that first decade! Liz

6 Year old thread brought to life. Last time OP posted was 6 years ago. SO.......what is the real reason this thread was bumped? For your curiosity, no, there are no more racism in CDA than in other places in The USA. I can think of many many more places who have much more racism than little CDA. This is not the 80's anymore. There is no more nazi / skinhead camps in CDA.
