Well, we've been back here since June 2003, and haven't had an 'accumulation' of more than one foot of snow that lasted more than about 10 days ....When I was a kid growing up 50 miles northeast of here, we could get 2' in 12 hours ....but it was 'fun snow'! My boys LOVED it....would sled, throw snow balls etc....but that was in the 1980's, and it is very different now!
The last 3 years that we've lived in Post Falls have given us an accumulation of 1' that lasted about a week, then just gray and dreary until spring. The crocus start blooming about mid to late Feb; narcissus just after that, and tulips in bloom by mid March ....let me know if you want info on the bird population that hangs around and makes nests!!
It is actually quite mild here compared to when I was growing up ...the weather patterns are changing all over the country!
As for 'decent snow' .... I'd have to say no, it isn't happening here since I've relocated. I don't even buy 'snow tires' anymore!! But that doesn't mean I'm not 'careful' when driving in winter with my all-season tires!
Guess it depends on just where you live and what you need.
