Anchor baby is a highly inaccurate term.

The only thing a US citizen born to illegal parents is allow the parents to access certain welfare benefits...very limited benefits.

If current immigrant laws stay as is, the illegal parents will never be able to gain immigration benefits through their children. NEVER. If anyone has half a brain, they can read through I-601 waiver laws and figure out that a certain amount of illegal presence will require a waiver and that a child is not a qualifying relative for the purpose of filing that waiver.

In summary, this US citizen baby anchors nothing, at least not for the illegal parents.

I agree. To me even asking such a stupid question would make me check their ID...

It won't fly.

SB1070 follows the federal law as it stands, this doesn't.

A state can't deny the natural rights of a US citizen, which as it stands at this time these children are, whether we like it or not.

The law needs to be reinterpreted at a federal level.

Oh and btw your so called "poll" sucks.

racist? oh go cry me a river - illegals come in all colours, races, nationalities and creeds.

Pass it Arizona, and let it be tried at the Surpreme Court... which it will. Hopefully we will then have this loophole fixed.
The law[AZ SB1070] itself will not be ruled on before the Supreme court, the court case will come when the Federal government rules that Arizona does not have the right to legislate "Immigration Law". The question before the Court will most likely be [either by Arizona or the Federal Goverment] is if Arizona has that right.

btw...cases are not "tried at" the Supreme court, they are "brought before" the court, Heard and Ruled upon.

2ND btw, are you mixing AZ SB1070 with the 14th Amendment? Arizona cant affect the 14th.

It's not just illegals using this loophole - the "birth tourism" industry is alive and thriving. What other country would allow this? Citizenship shouldn't be treated as some crackerjack prize - it should be EARNED.

Arizona....leading the charge by enforcing laws the U.S. government is too p*ssyfied to enforce.

My vote? NO.

Go ARIZONA! Show the rest of 'em how it's done.

U.S. citizenship shouldn't be given to a baby simply because their parents were able to avoid law enforcement long enough to drop their offspring in this country.
