This is great news.

However, it's gonna involve a scared law...the 14th amendment.

It's about time. It won't end the anchor baby route around the laws, but the pregnant illegals coming only for the purpose of giving birth and then getting on welfare handouts will have to bypass Arizona.

The way that was written.......they conveniently used "Hispanic immigrants" when they SHOULD have said "illegal aliens." That is what this proposal targets, but the pro-illegal advocates insist on being politically correct.

Let's call a spade a spade, and stop labeling those who have NO right to be here merely "immigrants." They are correctly labeled "illegal aliens" or.....the slightly more politically correct "undocumented immigrants/migrants".

No state can write laws to determin US citizenship.

If Arizona were to exclude a group of people through a State citizenship law, yet every other State and the Federal Government recognized that group as citizens of the US, then Arizona[and every other state that emlulates this thyp of law] will be in violation of the "Equal Protection" clause of the US Constitution.

In America's past history, States did have the right to write Citizenship laws, but with the varing laws form State to State, Congress now writes Citizenship and Naturalization laws for the US.

Arizona's Citizenship laws do not trump the Federal laws so a person born in Az would still be covered by the 14th amendment and could not be denied any rights or prilivges by the State of Arizona[or any other State].

From sec 1, 14th amendent, US constitution-

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States;

What they can do is refuse to issue birth certificates to anchor babies.....

It will be interesting to see how the law is written pertaining to the 14th Amendment. It is going to be tricky but at least by trying to do something, they are bringing this issue into the public eye. Maybe people will listen and wake up.

You know just as well (if you don't, you SHOULD) as anyone that illegals have abused this amendment for all they can get out of it, and it was NOT meant to function that way when it was written.

So....we need to amend the constitution to spell out clearly what is and what is not legal citizenship. The fact that any state is even considering this will pave the way.

They should also make it very retroactive.
