The whiners are saying "We pay them wages, and they sent the money to Mexico instead of spending it in Fremont". Well, first of all most of the LEGAL workers of Mexican ancestry are also sending part of their paycheck to Mexico. And the whiners themselves are spending part of their income in Omaha shopping malls and ordering stuff online. And the illegals used to rent housing from Fremont landlords, and pay Fremont utility taxes, but they won't be doing that anymore, either. The lawsuits alone are going to cost the city more than all the money sent to Mexico by the immigrants.
Why don't they just pay all workers in Fremont with vouchers that can only be spent in Fremont. That would solve the problem, which is, according to the news report, the only problem people in Fremont really have with illegals. Except the problem that they they are hate-filled racists, but they didn't tell any of the reporters that.
You know what I hope happens? Some enterprising builder puts up an apartment building just outside Fremont and all the Hispanic workers go and live there. The Fremont apartments will all sit empty, the landlords will have no income, it will erode Fremont's tax base, and the Mexican kids will all still be going to school in the Fremont school districts, and Fremont will still have to pay for that.
Show Fremont what happens when your greed and hate outstrip your humanity and common sense.

Only if the state law does not violate federal law. Which this one would. Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of national ancestry. Nothing in the Constitution stipulates that anything in the Bill of Rights protects only citizens. It protects all people equally, citizens or otherwise.
