When AZ piledrives the Federal government in court, what will be the reaction of the feds?

How will it effect the other States wanting to pass mirror laws of 1070?

Will it hurt a re-election bid for Obama?

The feds will probably follow their usual operational plan when defeated, try an end run around the law. With their history, no surprise.

It should encourage them to start standing up for themselves in the face of failure by the national governments DC actions.

as arizona wins these lawsuits, it will encourage other states to mirror arizona law. as for the feds, yes they will try to find ways around the law and the judgments, which will force the states to make further laws that allow the states to deport illegal aliens, all to help the federal government for their jobs.

in the end it will hurt the democrats in general and obama specifically.

another thing that could come from this is stronger states rights.

After the win many states will pile on , this will be an embarrassment for Obama.
Holder is an embarrassment for all of us . This is a sad time in the US , I'm glad to be moving to AZ .

It will fail, because establishing citizenship of someone suspected of committing a crime, so you can inform ICE, is not a crime.

It will cause other states to mirror the law, and 0bama will look foolish and Holder will be his scapegoat.

holder and bammers will react by ordering ICE to ignore all notifications/referrals coming from AZ, is my guess.

When Obama fails, it will have several negative aspects

1. Public embarrassment
2. It shows the citizens that he is opposed to them and for the illegals
3. It weakens the power of the federal government relative to the states
4. It will encourage other states to enact similar policies

All in all, it will be a huge loss for Obama. He is taking a gamble that the suit will rally Hispanic voters to his cause. This man is a fool, and his behavior repeatedly reinforces that contention.

Which one of you believes in the constitution? I don't see ANY of you talking about the responsibilities of the state and of the federal governments as outlined in the constitution.

I fully expect states to file a lawsuit if federal government encroaches into its responsibilities. And I fully expect federal government to file a lawsuit against state government(s) if it encroaches.

This is simple....the law is unconstitutional, and yes it is clear cut.

No state has the authority granted to it in the US Constitution to form it's own immigration law. Immigration falls under the "foreign autority" of the Federal Government. States have no power to make laws pertaining to foreign relationships. That is the challenge to the law. Not over its clear racial undertones, but because it asserts power to the state, clearly not delegated to it.
Re: Article I Section 8: Congress is granted the power to create rules of Natuarlization [ie immigration too].
Re: Article IV Section 4: The United States shall protect them [the States] against invasion. [if you wish to call immigration an invasion].
In fact the Constitution makes no concession to the States to obtain foreign power-dealing with issues of a foreign nature [immigration, naturalization, duty, war, even sessesion].

Law Professors on Arizona Immigration Bill: It's Unconstitutional - Law Blog - WSJ

Arizona over stepped its bounds in this law. No one disagrees that something needs to be done [and if you think building a wall will help---I suggest you get on the other side of that wall]. The problem is economic. Punish the employers, and allow those who are already here a path to citizenship, just like every other Immigrant to our shores, and may enforce the laws we already have in place.

It is not unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue, therefore Arizona WILL WIN, as there is legal precedent.

http://supreme.nolo.com/us/424/351/index.html

Over the weekend, several legal experts on the news programs said that there is precedent for the Arizona law and that the federal government does not have the right to infringe. ALL of them said that the feds would lose.

This is political grandstanding by Obama (who knows they will lose the case) and he is wasting tax payer funds for a political stunt. Of course, it is small potatoes compared to the wasted $1 trillion "stimulus" which failed and the $3.2 trillion Obamacare mess.
