Mapping the Quality of Life in the US | NumbersUSA - For Lower Immigration Levels

Note that the map shows Nevada colored red -- in this case, for being in the highest level of immigration. (Interestingly, its long-time U.S. Senator, Harry Reid, continues to be one of the country's strongest advocates of pushing immigration to even higher levels.)

Both Senators from California (colored red for highest immigration) also are urging higher levels of immigration. After 40 years of high immigration, California has plummeted from No. 7 in educated laborforces to No. 50.

It looks like states that have managed to have low immigration have tended to compete better on one of the key indicators of a healthy economic future -- a better educated workforce.

That seems to be a very self destructive policy. Why on earth would a political group want to destroy it's own labor force? Here is an article dealing with the changing demographics in California that seem to support your findings:

California's Labor Force: Immigration, Fertility, and the Post-industrial Economy | Center for Immigration Studies

For comparison sake, would anyone fault an NBA basketball team or a Major League Baseball team for selecting only the very best players in their annual drafts? No one would suggest these organizations for being racist, even if all the players that were selected came from one particular racial group, right? After all, each team wants to field the best possible players for their team to win, for their home town to prosper and for their fans to celebrate with. Why doesn't the US Federal Government do like wise when it comes to immigration?

What is the current Fed's motivation that allows such an unskilled labor force to freely migrate (albeit illegally) across our borders? Being that the American government is completely bankrupt when it comes to morals, I know it's not about clothing or feeding the world's poor as the Statue of Liberty might suggest. So what is our Government's motivation in all this?

Actually I think it may be more simple than any of us think. Big business, big profits, cheap labor, and screw all the rest of you.

But how do they keep getting their politicians elected? Is the middle class worker (if there are any left) that naive to keep putting big business politicians into office?

The reasons politicians lie is because the public doesn't want to hear the truth. People want to hear what they want to hear. When two candidates are running and one of the tells the truth and the other says what the public wants to hear, the one who says what the public wants to hear wins the election. Thus, and there are exceptions to this, if you want to win an election, you better start lying, because the guy who's telling you the truth doesn't have a chance.

That has been the trend historically, but may I venture that the general public is starting to see the real truth, and knows when it is not being upheld by politicians. Is the tide turning?

Whatever their motives, rest assured, they’re sinister. Our politicians have become so entrenched in greed, that they are now immune to moral dictates. They sell themselves (and their votes) to the highest bidder. . . . to hell with constituents, or for that matter, this country.

Most troubling for me is the fact that we pay their salaries, and in essence, pay for our own betrayal. Our traitorous politicians have the option of leaving this country once it implodes, and retiring on cushy pensions. While sadly, the average citizen will have no alternative but remain here among the ruins.

We now have over 14 million unemployed citizens, as well as countless underemployed. Does anyone actually believe the majority will be employed in the near future? Face it, we manufacture NOTHING, which is clearly evidenced by the scarcity of merchandise “made in the USA.” We have become a “service” nation, and that alone will not sustain us.
