“Earlier this year, the president reassured the American people that illegal immigrants would not be covered by his government takeover of health care,” said Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee. “Now we see what he means. He intends to give millions of illegal immigrants amnesty in order to give them access to America’s health care system. In other words, the president and congressional Democrats are trying to get illegal immigrants into the health care system through the back door.”
We said this from the beginning. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus vowed to vote against the bill, unless they were guaranteed coverage for illegal aliens via the passage of CIR (amnesty). Now, they want Obama to honor his word.

So, I guess Joe “You lie!” Wilson was spot on after all.

What's left of our social services will go up in smoke once millions of people making less than min wage (under the table) are added to the ranks.

That’s the point. They WON’T be illegal if they pass amnesty. That was their agenda from the beginning.

Obama has made no notions for amnesty. Don't be so quick to forget, Reagan = amnesty. W = calling for amnesty. McCain = the poster boy trying to pass his amnesty bill. We should be glad obama is in office now, otherwise the illegals would be jumping for joy from their new found Mccainesty.

The Healthcare bill doesn't become affective for at least a couple of years from what I understand. I am starting to see the picture more clearly now. It gives Obama plently of time to push his amnesty through thereby negating the illegal status of those in our country illegally and entitling them to our healthcare as legal immigrants. Very clever, Obama. That way you can say you didn't lie.

WTH? You can't be serious that Obama hasn't openly stated many times that he wants to legalize all these illegal aliens. As for Reagan and McCain, yes Reagan granted one for which he later regretted and McCain the flip-flopper has been back and forth on this issue. This isn't a Republican vs Democrat issue as both parties have been guilty of pushing amnesty (or whatever else you want to call it). The Republicans much less so of late though.

Get out your checkbooks.

Illegal Immigrants and HR 3200: Estimate of Potential Costs to Taxpayers | Center for Immigration Studies

  • We estimate that there were 6.6 million illegal immigrants without health insurance in 2007 who had incomes below 400 percent of the poverty level, which is the income ceiling for the proposed affordable premium credits.
  • If all uninsured illegal immigrants with incomes below 400 percent of poverty received the proposed credits, the estimated cost to the federal government would be $30.5 billion annually.
  • We estimate the current cost of treating uninsured illegal immigrants at all levels of government to be $4.3 billion a year, primarily at emergency rooms and free clinics.

Apparently you don’t realize Obama voted “yes” for the McCain-Kennedy bill (Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007). So Obamnesty is the same as McShamnesty. Same church -- different pew. Furthermore, unless he changed his mind overnight, he currently supports a “path to citizenship” aka amnesty for illegal aliens.
