I can beat you on that one. I'm about 12 miles from the boarder as the crow flys, though they do have to cross a large mountain
I can beat you on that one. I can see the border fence.

And, by the way, I live approximately 40 miles from the border.
LA is a long way from the border and look at the mess it has from Illegals.

Good one! I too can see the border fence, I can see beyond it. Some of us live so close to the border that we're very aware of the killings in Juarez and the real need for some kind of enforcement and control over who and what gets over the border.

People 40 miles or so north of the border are often almost completely unaware of that's taking place over there.

When you get headlines like this one - you have to know there's a problem:

CIUDAD JUÁREZ EN COLAPSO EXXXTREMO*|*La Polaka (http://lapolaka.com/2010/07/29/ciudad-juarez-en-colapso/ - broken link)

If you are Pete from next door can you please lay off the lawn cutting on Sunday mornings? Sometimes I worry that I'm arguing with my neighbor, or even my Dad, on the internet.

I can't believe that even with the new fence through El Paso and the multiple border patrol vehicles & eyes many people still make it through and across the canals (though some drown).
