People are not thinking clearly, logically, or objectionally with this issue. Is there a problem? Yes. Is it new? No. Is it only Mexicans? No. Do corporations who want cheap labor that's easily abused promote illegal labor? Yes. Do lobbyest for special interests groups that benefit from the cheap labor pay off politicians? Yes.

If a child is born in America then they are American. This proposal will never happen because we'll end up with a population of people who have no country. I don't care if you people have no compassion toward the babies born in America. The truth is these babies grow up and they would be a citizen of no country and that will never happen.

Some of you are just bigots. Many are not, but people, if you're just a regular working stiff in America you won't win on this issue. Neither will the undocumented workers. The only winners will be the corporations and the politicians. Nothing new about that.

If people were smart they'd stop with the bigotry; they'd stop acting like fools and start thinking logically. Work with the immigrants for fair reform and then all could work against the corporations who are the truely benefit. That will never happen though. It's much eaiser to shout, "I ain't gonna' press one for English!!"
Why do some of you leave out half the equation? You forget the social service programs, ERs, schools and tax dollars being molested by undocumented immigrants? It's not just the jobs, many aren't working as there aren't jobs.

There is nothing logical about pretending it's not a huge problem.

Good post. And yes ending Birth right citizenship is the right direction to go.

I can see working on the illegal birthright issue is going to take some time - but fgs - at LEAST stop the INSANITY of allowing some TOURIST to come here and drop their kid so it automatically becomes a US citizen..........They're an effin tourist!!!! If they give birth here that child should have ZERO rights to US citizenship..........The government COULD act right now to STOP any foreign VISITOR over 6 months pregnant from entering the country.

But they can't even see that's wrong and against the spirit of the Constitution.

End birthright citizenship. Literally millions of Mexican and South American women have come here to have babies in order to get free welfare for these babies, which the women are now living off of.

Enforcing current law does not imply bigotry in any way, shape, or form. It's hardly being a bigot to expect all foreigners from all parts of the world to abide by our immigration laws.

It could be a form of bigotry to insist that those who have no respect for the legal immigration process should be given a quick easy citizenship like you suggest while those who do respect our nation's laws are kept shut out.

If the big globalist corporations which run America were willing to pay fair wages then they would not have caused the illegal invasion in the first place. They and both U.S. and Mexican governments are keeping the invasion going strong.

Exactly. This is about the destruction of the American middle class. The powers-that-be despise the American middle class. They despise middle classes period.

Exactly – That’s exactly what is happening. I was trying to explain this to somebody earlier today but the bubble head couldn’t get it. These corporations even have the money to change laws to suit them. That’s by appointing there own personal puppets into congress, or by having paid lobbyist do the biding work for them.

The illegal people are responsible and have to be held
accountable for their action's you can't blame the
children, but they are the responsibility of the illegals
who broke the laws of the United States of America and yes
it is just that simple

There should be no reason to break up any family so send
them all back to where they came from, it's really nothing
personal it's just our laws that they made the choice to
break.

Would you give citizenship to children of Canadian visitors or of non-immigrant E2 Visa holders? What if just one parent (mother or father) was in the country legally?

Grant citizenship to the children? Yes or no?
- both parents illegal
- both parents legal residents (green card holders)
- one parent illegal, 1 parent legal resident
- one parent illegal, 1 parent citizen
- both parents on visitor visas (including E2, TN, & student visas)
- 1 parent citizen & 1 parent a legal visitor
- 1 parent legal resident , 1 parent visitor

What is your baseline criteria?
These aren't hypotheticals but real life here on the border.
