President Bush today offered the promise of a future permanent ban on illegal aliens in the United States – if the U.S. Senate moves forward with a compromise "comprehensive" immigration reform package that was killed earlier.

This bill can not be allowed to be resurrected as long as it grants amnesty to illegals. There is a concern that if the origin country don't take the illegals back, we can't them send back. This is why it is crucial that we secure our border now. We don't need this bill or that bill to that. As I have said before, put the military there. If President Bush want to use American soldiers to fight foreign invasion and threat to national security, the border is where they should be. If we can stop illegals from coming in the first place, we would prevent all kind of problems from happening later.

Right, and didn't they make it clear there would be a permanent ban on illegals in the last 3 amnesty bills? They think we're stupid.

It doesn't matter what's in this bill. The SCOTUS isn't going to let us jail someone indefinitely without trial or conviction of some sort.

Besides, what about the Chinese that have been identified as illegals and ordered home? The Chinese government refuses to take them back and they are released straight on to the street.

This bill is bad legislation and needs to be crushed. Bush's determination to push this just shows how very little he actually cares for this country or its citizens.

The solution is simple. Secure the border, with troops if necessary. Jail anyone who hires an illegal. Seize all assets of illegals and deport them. If necessary, throw them over the fence.

Nation & World | Immigration legislation's No. 1 threat is possibly on AM dial | Seattle Times Newspaper

According to this article, some law makers changed their positions on this Bill because their constituents voiced opposition to it. Your voices are being heard. Please keep on contacting your politicians and keep the pressure on. Do not give Bush a chance to pass this horrible Bill.

I would agree with a ban for illegals in the future, with one single condition: NO AMNESTY FOR CURRENT ILLEGALS INSIDE THE COUNTRY. DEPORT THEM ALL FIRST, THEN WE TALK.

This is what Bush said a few weeks ago:

Bush told the prayer breakfast, "Our responsibilities are straightforward -- we've got to enforce the border, basic duty of a sovereign nation. We've got to create a lawful way for foreign workers to fill jobs that Americans are not doing. Our economy depends on them. And we must resolve the status of illegal immigrants already in our country without amnesty and without animosity, because that is the only practical way to fix the problem that has been decades in the making."

He has been the President for 7 years, and now he knows we've got to enforce the border. If he has done his job, the border would have been sealed years ago. And then there is that classic lie about jobs that Americans don't do. Americans don't do those jobs because, thanks to law-breaking, greedy companies, cowards like Bush and the illegals, those jobs are not available for them to do. The fear they often try to instill in us is that if the illegals are not here, this country would collapse. I wonder then how America managed not to collapse years ago before this country was invaded by illegals.

Is it possible to impeach Bush and some members of Congress for being incompetent?
