Well - yes - some of them depend on the open border for their drugs. They're terrified the meth and cocaine shipments could be delayed.

Sorry some of you have relatives here Illegally. Being a squatter doesn't entitle you to anything. Zero, zilch, zippo.

The solution for what is best for "Americans" has already been posted in here over and over. The problem is that most pro-illegals (probably like yourself) don't want the illegals to have to leave and American interests come in second with them.

As for "we" have allowed them to come here, work and settle down, it wasn't "we" the people who did that. It was our government in cohoots with business that did that. So why should "we" have to pay for that by allowing these millions to stay here who violated our immigration laws and who are sitting on jobs we need and sucking our natural resources and social infrastructes dry. That won't change if they become legalized and it has already been proven that amnesty just encourages more to come. It will never end if another amnesty or this so-called CIR is passed.

The fact that it's a debate at all bothers most of us. The fact is, there's no 'neutral' position....you either discourage illegal immigration, or you encourage it. Amnesty most definitely encourages it.

I vividly remember the amnesty of '86...the corridos, the bumper stickers, the celebrations, the 3 million people who were legalized. It was to have 'solved' the probem, for all time...or so we were told.

Today, we have possibly 12 or 15 million. Do you see any overwhelming sense of gratitude for the '86 amnesty? Does it look to YOU like that amnesty worked? On what basis would you think another amnesty would turn out differently?

Amnesty encourages further illegal entry...it serves to embolden and justify the next wave. BAD idea....

The last amnesty and another would do great things......

For Mexico and Guatemala.

I mean, why have a border at all? We are just legalizing everyone who can figure out how to sneak across and squat on US soil. What's next, legal papers machines next to soda machines? Get your papers here.

Make sure it's in 52 languages too.

In '86 there was no follow-up. The politicians did high fives then moved on to other business.
- no increase in border security
- no follow-up & clampdown on employers (as dictated in the bill)
- no fraud screening - the gov't knowing turned a blind eye to fraudulent applications (ie: not in country long enough or stuffing the application with new relatives)

And with this Economy,Liberals,Democrats and a LIAR as President, the same thing will happen.
Illegals do not respect the Law and are here to grab whatever undeserving freebies (Welfare,Medical,Section 8, etc. ) they can get. And Amnesty will change all this? A person would have to be really Gullible,Naive,Delusional or just plain Stupid to believe things would be different.

Liars,Criminals and people with a deluded sense of entitlement (Illegal Aliens) should NEVER be rewarded for breaking the Law and disrespecting Americans. The only thing this will accomplish is having Millions of Illegals pouring in again.

Solution for other crimes:

Embezzlement from the workplace: If you've been doing it for say more than 2 years, then it's likely you're too used to extra money by now - so you can continue but we're going to be sure to stop any new embezzlers.

Domestic abuse: Okay, you've established a pattern and it might be too hard on you to change your ways so go ahead and continue as always - we'll just make sure others don't think it's okay to use violence on their family members.

And even with unemployment double digit and the problem of the "99ers", there are those who want for their own reasons to justify the fact that millions of foreigners are here illegally taking jobs and sending billions of untaxed dollars out of the country, out of the economy. And the politicians are promising these same millions of illegals that not only will they soon be very highly awarded for having broken the laws of this nation, they will soon be allowed to start bringing in all their long lost loved ones - legally which means their long lost loved ones - elderly parents, grandparents, children they haven't been home to see in years will qualify for all kinds of government programs. And the illegals reaching retirement years and any who make it over the border in time to get in on this who are also getting up in years will qualify for a nice fat American social security check.
