Eye opening article about Mexican drug cartels now doing business in and around LA while the media, the LA Times in particular, remains silent. Also nothing from local politicians, who fear and pander to the Latino voters and the pro illegal immigrant crowd. Oddly, it was the Spanish language newspaper La Opinion that memtioned this situation. Another reason that California is on the track to destruction, the southern two thirds for sure.

Journalism in the US is dead apparently. How can they turn their backs on this? Do they not have family in the area? Or do they worry their property values will slump? Good God, it's on US soil and nothing is being done. Where is the money trail here?

Maybe this has something to do with it, but on a smaller scale in the U.S.?

The L.A. Times seems to do a lot of reports about Mexico though:

The government in California proves day after day how inept they are. California certainly doesn't hire the best people for the jobs, just the ones who fit all the quotas. Remember it's not what the state can do for us, it's how much can the government steal from the taxpayer.

I am sick of this state but unfortunately for the while I am stuck here.

The article was in Investors Business Daily, a specialized paper that covers primarily financial matters and news. As far as I know, the situation has not been mentioned by the general media. Interesting in that IBD rips into the LA Times for not covering it, and into the local politicians. Adding to the problem, of course, is the inept mayor of LA, Antonio "Viva La Raza" Villaraigosa. Tony V is the man that never met an illegal alien that he did not like.

It's amazing - in Mexico there is much better reporting even though journalist are frequently murdered. Here the mainstream media seems to be part of some agenda that does not involve reporting what is taking place.

garbage reporting. what is there to report really? its the M that is running the streets. the cartels are NOT running anything. they might be the supplier, but they've been supplying drugs the world over for decades. this is not news.

and if something is going down, it takes investigations years to develop. be patient folks, theres a lot going on behind the scenes that we dont know about. reporting might hinder the investigation.

"This is going to create serious problems down the road. L.A. District Attorney Steven Cooley told the Washington (not the L.A.) Times that gangs and drug traffickers may create gang- and cartel-controlled city governments.
It's already evident, he said, along the 710 Freeway towards the Port of Long Beach — a corridor that encompasses illegal-immigrant-majority towns such as Bell, the city whose officials were caught feathering their nests with million-dollar salary packages. The 710, by the way, has seen actual cartel shootings."

further, the situation in bell has nothing to do with cartels. thats a serious stretch. gang controlled city governments.
and i would love a link to the article about cartel shootings on the 710. hilarious!
