Is it fair that those who are willing to do things the correct way be penalised to accomodate the huge numbers of those who refuse to do the same?

The United States should declare a full scale moratorium on immigration from Mexico. We've already taken in more than enough Mexican migrants. If we shut off the safety valve we might actually give Mexican the incentives to make the much needed changes to their own societies.

Our current immigration policy encourages the Mexican population to have children they cannot support with the ultimate idiotic belief that Americans have some sort of essential moral responsibility to provide for Mexico's population.

That policy is not sustainable long term. The problem with Mexico is not poverty. Mexico is rich in resources. The problem with Mexico is that it is run by an oligarchy of greedy creeps. If we finally get serious about enforcing our borders this will benefit the average Mexican. They may actually get serious about demanding a better Mexican society instead of coming to America with no skills and ludicrous delusions about what Americans somehow owe them.

SECURE THE BORDER ! ! !

Then we'll adopt the Mexican Law as we seem not
to want to ENFORCE OURS

MEXICAN LAW

Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society:

Foreigners are admitted into Mexico "according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress." (Article 32)

Immigration officials must "ensure" that "immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents. (Article 34)

Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets "the equilibrium of the national demographics," when foreigners are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," when they do not behave like good citizens in their own country, when they have broken Mexican laws, and when "they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy." (Article 37)

The Secretary of Governance may "suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest." (Article 38)

Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country:

Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request, i.e., to assist in the arrests of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)

A National Population Registry keeps track of "every single individual who comprises the population of the country," and verifies each individual's identity. (Articles 85 and 86)

A national Catalog of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), and assigns each individual with a unique tracking number (Article 91).

Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned:

Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned. (Article 116)

Foreigners who sign government documents "with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses" are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)

Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:

Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)

Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)

Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico -- such as working with out a permit -- can also be imprisoned.

Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says:

"A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally." (Article 123)

Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)

Foreigners who "attempt against national sovereignty or security" will be deported. (Article 126)

Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:

A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)

Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)

HARSH YOU SAY??

There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no
special ballots for elections, all government business will be
conducted in our language.
Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long
they are here.
Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.
Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance
programs.
Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay,
BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront
property. That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this
country.
Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a
foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies, if you do you will be sent home.
If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted
down and sent straight to jail.
Harsh, you say?...............
The above laws happen to be the immigration laws of "MEXICO"

MEXICO'S GLASS HOUSE- How the Mexican constitution treats foreigners

Mexico treats illegal immigrants in its midst harshly - San Bernardino County Sun

There are many coming from Central America who claim
to be Mexican so they don't get shipped farther south
so they can JUMP the next day back in the U.S.A.

See it's real simple

Secure the border with boots on the ground that can actually enforce the laws of the United States, while
extending the type of fence as used in the Yuma sector.

Use the Mexican law that's printed above

Pull a 'CASTRO' once the border fence is done and secure

Whether or not the USA is wealthier than Mexico is not the issue.

What has close proximity have to do with it? We are supposed to be about diversity. How do we remain diverse if we allow in mostly Mexicans?

Yeah, a demand for cheap labor by the employers to increase their profits. What happens if we legalize the illegals already here? They will just fire them and look for more cheap illegal labor to jump our border. It would be like a revolving door.

No, no accomodations for lawbreakers.
Immigration happens since people want more opportunity elsewhere. This can be gained in the USA over Mexico.

What you fail to understand is that we cannot accomodate the whole world's need for a better opportunity here. Surely you can understand that. We already give opportunities for how many we can offer it to without it negatively affecting our own citizenry. We offer that opportunity to immigrants across the world. You seem to think that Mexicans should get the bigger piece of the pie. How are we to remain a diverse country if we allow substantialy more from one ethnic group over the others? It isn't fair either. How is Mexico ever going to get their act together and make opportunities in their own country if we continue to import them here in large numbers legally and illegally?

9.5% unemployment rate in the USA. Don't they deserve the 'opportunity' before illegal (and legal) immigrants?

The USA is a wealthier country, recession aside. It will for that reason be a magnet to others around the world.

The USA is physically huge. The USA is built historically on immigration. The arguments against present US immigration are slim. As for arguments of dilution of culture, well when was the USA ever culturally homogeneous?

There are many countries larger than ours. Just because our country started out from immigrants from other countries doesn't mean that we have to continue to take in large numbers of immigrants continually. As our population continued to grow we needed fewer and fewer immigrants.

Remain in denial all you want but our country still has an identifying culture and language regardless of the number of immigrants that have come here from various nations. We are a melting pot. In other words new immigrants add a little spice to the pot but the pot has still retained its basic flavor.
