Should the USA sign a treaty with Mexico, stating that x amount of person per year will be allowed in legally?

Some aspects of the issue will not be resolved soon, namely:

- The USA being wealthier than Mexico
- The two countries' close proximity
- A demand for cheap labour

So, since these factors are givens for the time being, isn't some kind of accommodation required?

The U.S. should enforce it's borders to keep out all of the illegals, and then possibly think about some sort of legal citizenship or green card fast track with mexicans. We need to know who is coming in, not just for security reasons, but logistical reasons as well, like hospital coverage, police and fire protection, and tax income.

Mexicans already have among the highest quotas for legal immigration. So what are you talking about? Are you saying we need to give Mexicans already here illegally a green card fast track? Why? What is so special about Mexicans? They need to go home just like the rest of the illegals in this country.

We already have numbers for each country. Unfortunately, they are ignored.

Mexicans are already allowed in x amount of persons per year into our country legally.

Whether or not the USA is wealthier than Mexico is not the issue.

What has close proximity have to do with it? We are supposed to be about diversity. How do we remain diverse if we allow in mostly Mexicans?

Yeah, a demand for cheap labor by the employers to increase their profits. What happens if we legalize the illegals already here? They will just fire them and look for more cheap illegal labor to jump our border. It would be like a revolving door.

No, no accomodations for lawbreakers.

The problems of our southern neighbors will NEVER be solved by rewarding illegal immigration, or enabling legal immigration, of millions of mostly undereducated.

The ignored and apparently unpalatable truth: In the same way America demanded, fought, and sacrificed for it's Liberty--- so MUST illegals confront and demand dignity, liberty, and opportunity of their own corrupt and inept governances.

THEN might they earn the respect, and support, needed to reverse the contemptable mismanagement of their homelands, and transform their naturally gifted countries (ocean resources, oil, timber, labor force, agriculture, precious metals, archeological treasures, minerals, natural gas, tourism); for the enduring benefit of the citizens.

To break and enter, or to demand citizenship of their neighbor is no solution, but only a tactic worthy of contempt.

We can, and should, maintain and utilize a temporary Work Visa program for workers.

Wholesale Amnesty for scofflaws should never be offered up. The bestowance of cherished citizenship in exchange for bribed votes and cheap labor. Treasonous.

What we need to do is bring back national quotas and reduce legal immigration levels to no more then 100,000 per year. It's not sustainable for us to allow a million illegals plus a 1.5 million legals per year - almost all from 3rd world countries.

We have FAR more legal immigrants from Mexico than from any other country. Family chain migration accounts for the bulk of legal immigration. It's a very racist policy and should be dumped as that is what brings in so many welfare types of immigrants. It's highly unfair because someone who truly wants to be American, has the ability and desire to learn English and assimilate is kept out while those who come for only money and the government handouts is allowed in.

That is certainly my impression. Maybe he/she will explain why only Mexicans should be considered, and others are less worthy.
