Who gives a rat's behind about the past? Those people for the most part are all dead now. They aren't us and we aren't them. I only know we have immigration laws TODAY and all foreigners are obligated to follow them. We aren't the wide open frontier we were back then anyway. Our population has grown to over 300 milion now so we don't need as many immigrants as we did back then to help build our country. Our country is already built and we don't have the abundance of resources we had back then. We have shortages of just about everything today. The past has no relevance to today so it is ridiculous to argue about what our ancestors did and didn't do.
