That is how they are supposed to do it. Not how they did it.

That is why they got sued.

FTR - e-verify just like the I-9, is for use with NEW HIRES.........NOT APPLICANTS..............

You are specifically not permitted to use e-verify to pre-screen job applicants.

Agreed. Any earlier screening though would likely be considered discriminatory.

Which is exactly why these Az colleges ran foul of the law....... the law also states that even when e-verify or the I-9 is filled out after hire (as it should be) the employer may NOT specify WHICH documents the new hire chooses to provide as long as said documents fall within the guidelines.

Why would they be "scared to hire" ? Under the law if the new hire is found NOT to have valid documentation within 3 days of hire they may be terminated with ZERO penalty to the employer - so try again..........I guess it MIGHT be a pretty lame excuse for SOME employers to only hire people with AMERICAN accents lol

Comeon - It is a simple one page form in common usage since 1983.

Anyone who can't deal with it would be completely unable to maintain basic accounts or a payroll and should be shut down to protect himself and his employees.
