Another tragedy, profile has been kept down, it will happen soon.
The death of Fidel Castro.
The Miami-Dade county, is preparing for a massive Cuban exodus after Fidel Castro's death. The city of Miami is preparing the Miami-Homestead Air Force base as a big shelter to receive thousands and thousands of Cubans.
Now, there are a couple of things here that of course, again, don't make any sense.
- Cubans are coming here because of Fidel Castro. If Castro dies, isn't that the opportunity to GO BACK and build their own country? suposedly Castro was the problem to do that and if he will be gone, what is the excuse to come here??
- The "wet foot dry foot" law wich gives Cubans the automatic assylum once they step in American soil, was created exclusively because of Castro's communist dictatorship. If he dies, why the law should be applied if the threat doesn't exist anymore?
- If authorities know that thousands are going to invade the south east coast, of course common sense and logic tell us "ok, let's prepare the Coast Guard top be alert and stop them in the middle of The Florida Strait; instead, they are actually preparing to LET THE PEOPLE COME IN!! I mean, not only the mexican border is broken, but also our sea border!! What if I am from south Africa and decide to come here in my own boat?? why the same treatment is not applied to me?? this is hilarious!
And of course as always, responsible for this is Washington DC. Allowing it to happen, or directing actions, either way they are the direct responsible for this.

After Castro dies what happens will depend on who's left in charge over there, and what kind of government remains. If relations normalize between the two countries we probably will initially see thousands of Cubans come over to Florida. But many Cubans currently living in the US may go back. With a modest bankroll you would be able to live like a king over there.
The wet foot dry foot policy should be ended. But neither party in Washington wants to upset the Cuban vote in Florida. Especially with 27 electoral votes at stake. It has everything to do with politics and power, and very little to do with what's fair or what's in the best interest of the American people.

If castro dies most likely his brother will take over and it will be just more of the same for the Cuban people. I don't see a mass exodus happening. If by some miracle castro's brother does not take over and the Cuban people have a chance of a better life I just can't imagine them leaving what once was, and could be again, a paradise.
