Good GRIEF - what part of ILLEGAL do these people not GET? (my bolding)

Quote:
Immigration is what's keeping this country's lifeblood moving forward," he said.

"America is going to be a minority nation in one more generation. Our minorities are not getting educated well enough now. Fifty percent of our minority kids are not finishing high school. We've got to invest in education. We should use the DREAM Act as one way to do it,” Powell said on Sunday.

Your point is? The person who picked your lettuce may have been illegal. Should we then skewer you since you may have contributed to the salaries of illegal immigrants?

You don't see the difference between buying a legal product and violating the law deliberately?

FYI, the idiots at the NYTimes have (surprise, surprise!) come out in favor of the dream act:

I love how they coin a new euphamism. Not illegal aliens. Not even undocumented immigrants. Oh no. Now they're Americans in waiting. Good grief.

So we're supposed to hand someone American citizenship because their parents broke into the country and they themselves managed to earn a GED in Spanish.

I don't think so. The only message our govenment should send to these brats is very simple: go home. And stay home. You don't get to jump the line and claim special rights because your parents are lawbreaking scum.

For the first time in more than 35 years, the U.S. military has met all of its annual recruiting goals, as hundreds of thousands of young people have enlisted despite the near-certainty that they will go to war.

The Pentagon, which made the announcement Tuesday, said the economic downturn and rising joblessness, as well as bonuses and other factors, had led more qualified youths to enlist.

The military has not seen such across-the-board successes since the all-volunteer force was established in 1973.

Pentagon officials said recruitment gains were fueled by the deepest U.S. recession since the Great Depression and an unemployment rate nearing 10 percent.

"For the first time since the advent of the all-volunteer force, all of the military components, active and reserve, met their number as well as their quality goals," said Bill Carr, deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel policy.

It is infuriating that I would have to pay full price to attend GA Tech while someone who isn't even American would pay in state tuition. Congress should be ashamed of themselves for even considering this insult to Americans.

Default Citizens please light up the Senate switchboards!

My morning started with a phone call to Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO). I expressed my wishes to her staff that she vote against the DREAM Act amendment to the Defense Bill, and that Defense should not be held hostage by illegal aliens. When I asked her staff to take my name and zip code the woman who answered the phone laughed at me. I requested her name 3 times; twice she refused and on the third request I was hung up on.

Please light up the Senate switchboards today! Remind our representatives that they are supposed to represent us, the legal citizens of the USA, and not illegal aliens! They took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the DREAM Act is in direct conflict with that oath.

TOUGHER UNCOMMITTED TARGETS
– CAN YOU PERSUADE THEM?
Your first and most important phone calls are to the Senators above.
ACTION: The following list is of Senators who have shown a real proclivity toward amnesty but seem to have remained uncommitted. Under the pressure of the impending November elections, some of these Senators could be persuaded to vote NO.
I would emphasize with them that a controversial bill like this has no business being put inside a Defense bill, regardless of how they may feel about the amnesty itself.

SENATORS WHO ARE CO-SPONSORING THE ‘DREAM’ AMNESTY
Once you have done what you can with phone calls to the Senators on the lists above, you should look through this list to see who is causing all this problem by pushing so hard to give 2 million more permanent work permits to illegal aliens to compete with 22 million American and legal immigrant workers who can’t find a job.
You can reach these through the Switchboard at 202-224-3121 or in our Congress directory (I apologize that this directory is loading sluggishly today).
